The F-16AM Fighting Falcon will be sweeping into Eastbourne for the first time in six years, marking its one and only appearance this year at an English seaside airshow.
The 'Blizzard' flown by the Belgian Air Force will be joining a first class line up at the free show in celebration of Airbourne: Eastbourne International Airshow's 25th anniversary from 17 – 20 August.
With the heavy duty Chinook also signalling a return for the show's 25th year, the programme is looking stronger than ever with three days of the world famous Red Arrows, the sky scraping Typhoon, The Blades, Breitling Wingwalkers and the poignant Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
Eastbourne Borough Council Lead Cabinet Member for Tourism and Enterprise, Cllr Margaret Bannister said “We've not seen the F-16 since 2011 so we will be delighted to be reunited with this stunning fast jet. Its' appearances at seaside airshows in recent years really are quite rare so we are very honoured to welcome back this astounding display.”
Flown by Commandant Tom “Gizmo” de Moortel, from Kleine Brogel Airbase, the unique jagged black, grey and white paint scheme of the striking F-16 jet complements the vortices and smoke winders during its display routine for a dramatic blizzard effect.
More aerial delights for 2017 include The Tigers parachute display team, Norwegian MiG 15, B-25 Mitchell, Team Raven, Hurricane, Pitts Special, P-51 Mustang, Messerschmitt-109 Buchon, Strikemaster and the return of The Fireflies in a stunning night glow display.
With exclusive hospitality sales already taking off, Airbourne's hospitality team have released a brand new informal option on Sunday for small groups with a 2 course summer buffet lunch, welcome drink and complimentary tea and coffee all day for £55 per person.
Guests can beat the crowds and enjoy exclusive use of the Departure Lounge all day from 11am with reserved tables, fully stocked bar, private toilet facilities and prime views of the flying display line from the Western Lawns.
Alternatively, reserved seats are available in the Exclusive Seating area at the Bandstand, also offering perfect uninterrupted views of the flying displays all day from just £10 per adult (£6 per child).
Airbourne returns this year from 17 – 20 August with a military exhibition, helicopter pleasure flights, children's entertainment, fireworks and much more. Entry is free.
Opportunities are also available for businesses to support the show and receive exposure to hundreds of thousands attending, with sponsorship and partnership packages available.
