Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel

The Terrace at Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel in Belgravia is set to reopen for the season on Saturday 29 April, bringing both guests and Londoners an early taste of summer.

For the second year, the al fresco restaurant and bar will be partnering with Bombay Sapphire, the world's number one premium gin brand, to offer a 'ginspired' selection of cocktails in a beautiful botanical setting. New for 2017, planting for The Terrace garden will take inspiration from the gardens at Laverstoke Mill, Bombay Sapphire's distillery in rural Hampshire.

Plants on The Terrace include juniper (Juniperus communis), almond (Prunus dulcis), angelica (Angelica archangelica), coriander (Coriandrum sativum) and lemon (Citrus limonum), all botanicals which feature in Bombay Sapphire gin, as well as giant herb-Robert (Geranium maderense), Canary Island geranium (Geranium palmatum), Tree houseleek (Aeonium) and Dwarf Cavendish banana (Musa acuminate 'Dwarf Cavendish'), more tropical specimens which thrive in the stunning Thomas Heatherwick-designed glasshouse at Laverstoke Mill. Many of the botanicals grown on The Terrace will be used as a finishing touch to the cocktails or to create homemade infusions.

Incorporating the exquisite taste of Bombay Sapphire gin with its blend of 10 vapour-infused botanicals, the carefully crafted cocktail menu features a selection of contemporary classics.  Signature serves include the Rosemary Berry, a summery and aromatic blend of super premium Star of Bombay gin, fresh lemon juice, homemade rosemary syrup, fresh raspberries and Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic; the zesty Citrus Twist with Bombay Sapphire gin, Fever Tree lemon tonic, homemade orange syrup and fresh orange; and the sophisticated Emerald Pressé combining Grey Goose L'Orange, fresh lime juice, sugar syrup, Fever Tree soda water and fresh coriander.

Guests can also take the mixology reins and create their ultimate gin and tonic at the table with a Bombay Sapphire 'Twist Box'. Filled with fruits, bitters, fresh herbs and a bottle of Bombay Sapphire and served with a choice of Fever Tree tonic waters, the gin and tonic Twist Box is perfect for sharing.

Executive Chef Martin Gabler's barbecue menu also returns with extra sizzle. Prepared to order on the outdoor grill, dishes include a selection of gourmet beef burgers and sandwiches, marinated meats and fresh seafood, alongside colourful salads, seasonal sides and summery desserts to soak up those afternoon gin and tonics.

Located in a hidden square behind Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel and just off Belgravia's Motcomb Street, The Terrace offers a perfect antidote to the bustle of Knightsbridge's busy stores and a welcome social hub for the Belgravia neighbourhood.  Dotted with comfortable sofas for lounging, as well as high tables with either warming fire places for cooler evenings or built-in ice buckets to keep your bottle cool, The Terrace is the ideal destination for a post-work cocktail, a sunny al fresco lunch or dinner or a weekend barbecue feast.

The Terrace at Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel is open daily from 22 April until mid-September 2017 from midday to 10pm (7pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays), weather-permitting. To book call +44 (0)20 7858 7223 or email JLH.LBK@jumeirah.com. For more information, visit www.lowndesdining.co.uk/theterrace.

About Bombay Sapphire:

Based on a secret recipe from 1761, Bombay Sapphire is produced by passing spirit vapour through the botanicals, which are held separately from the spirit in a perforated copper basket. This process, known as vapour infusion, allows the gentle absorption of each of the aromatic flavours, resulting in a wonderfully balanced, crisp yet delicate finish; creating a versatility unmatched by other gins that can be savoured with tonic, in a classic martini cocktail, or in mixed cocktails.

The ten botanicals that make Bombay Sapphire so special are carefully sourced from all around the world:

Spain - Lemon Peel

Spain – Almonds

Italy, Tuscany - Juniper Berries

Italy – Oris Root

China – Liquorice

Indo-China – Cassia Bark

Morocco – Coriander Seeds

Saxony – Angelica Root

West Africa, Ghana – Grains of Paradise

Java – Cubeb Berries
