On Friday, March 17, Mall of America® launched a new nighttime spectacular in honor of the year-long celebration for its 25th birthday. The nighttime show is one of many surprises planned throughout the birthday year which will culminate on the actual birthday of Mall of America, August 11, 2017.

Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the show daily at 9:30 p.m. Monday – Saturday and at 7 p.m. on Sundays.

The seven-minute nightly experience will feature an original musical score composed by the Broadway songwriting team of Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner along with many new special effects and elements of surprise for guests. The creative team behind the show, Quantum Creative Studios, has previous project collaborations with Princess Cruises, Universal Studios and SeaWorld.

Taking place at the south side of Nickelodeon Universe® (near LEGO), the new show will temporarily replace Universe of Light, the first light show Mall of America debuted in 2013.

Mall of America kicked off its 25th birthday year celebration with a surprise throwback performance on Feb. 11 with Grammy Award-winning group Boyz II Men. Thousands of fans were treated to the pop-up performance where the musical group serenaded the crowd with some of their most beloved hits including “Motownphilly,” and “I'll Make Love to You.”

When Mall of America opened on August 11, 1992 it welcomed more than 150,000 people that first day exceeding all expectations. Since then, the Mall has grown from 4.2 million square feet to 5.6 million square feet and continues to be the largest retail and entertainment destination in North America.
