THAI Upgrades Its Royal Orchid Inflight Service for Business Class

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI), a premium full-service carrier, has upgraded its inflight service to offer the “New Royal Silk Service” to Royal Silk Business Class passengers, based on individual passenger requirements in order to create maximum customer satisfaction throughout the entire journey flown with THAI.

In the midst of a highly competitive airline industry, THAI completed a major revamp of its inflight services by placing distinct emphasis on 'Thainess' particularly in its Business Class cabins with the “New Royal Silk Service”.  With this new service, passengers are able to travel in Business Class and enjoy the comfort and convenience of service that is tailored to diverse customer preferences.  THAI first began to test its new inflgiht service in September 2016 on these routes : Bangkok-Tokyo (Narita), Bangkok-Frankfurt, Bangkok-London, Bangkok-Paris (on flights operated with the Airbus A380).

With the elevation in levels of service, THAI's “New Royal Silk Service” has been well received by passengers according to the results of opinion surveys regularly conducted since its introduction.  The objective in making improvements to THAI's Business Class service was to claim a top five position compared to airlines worldwide by offering the best business class inflight service.

One vital aspect of the new inflight service is to provide service from the heart that is beyond passenger expectations and with 'Thainess', placing service-based emphasis on the needs and personal preferences of each passenger, equivalent to that of a five star hotel.  Cabin attendants care for passengers and converse with them as though they were the house owner welcoming a house guest.   “Samrab Thai” or Thai set menu was introduced as a component of inflight services, whereby the meal is carefully arranged and presented to the passenger with an essence of 'Thainess'.

Samrab Thai is the combination and presentation of dishes that complement one another in the use of ingredients, flavours and textures that are uniquely Thai.  It is the foundation of Thailand's culinary arts and a reflection of a culture that places great value on hospitality. The essence of Samrab Thai is harmony in everything.  To taste a medley of flavours that are spicy, sour, bitter or sweet for delicious and complimentary combinations.

A typical Samrab Thai menu includes Tamarind Thai Beef Salad, Chicken Bamboo Broth, Prawn Chu Chee, Pork Red Curry, Eggplant Stir Fry with Chilli and Basil and Jasmine Rice.  Pumpkin Coconut Custard follows for dessert.

In addition, Western full course set menus are also served.  A destination or local national meal for specific routes is also served.  For example, if the final destination is Japan, a Japanese full course set menu will be available for selection.

An example of the western menu items available include Crab Herb Rillettes, Barramundi Caps Couli, Trout Herb Salad, Pork Loin with Mustard Sauce followed by fruit and cheese board with Opera Cake and Passionfruit sauce.

An All Day Dining Menu complete with meals, snacks and beverages is available for passenger selection, which is available during daytime and evening hours on long intercontinental flights between Bangkok and Europe and on day flights from Bangkok to Australia (Bangkok to Sydney, Melbourne and Perth).

All day dining menu selections include Chicken Skewers, Egg Noodles with Roasted Duck or a Beefsteak Sandwich.

THAI's beverage service for Royal Silk Business Class passengers includes Veuve Clicquot Brut champagne, white, red and dessert wines from the Loire Valley, Burgundy, Bordeaux and Languedoc regions of France; single origin coffee from The Royal Project Mae Hong Son and Chiang Rai plantations and a tea selection from Chiang Rai, Thailand.

For THAI's intercontinental flights from Bangkok to various destinations in Europe such as Frankfurt, London, Paris, and other destinations in Scandinavia, a bedding quilt is available for passengers' increased comfort.

Currently, the new inflight service has been implemented on many routes such as flights from Bangkok to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and the Middle East.  The “New Royal Silk Class Service” will be introduced on flights to South Korea in May 2017.

Thai Airways International flies 39 times weekly from Australia, non-stop to Thailand with connections to over 70 destinations across the world.  THAI is a full-service carrier offering a full meal and beverage service on all flights from Australia with main meal choices, fine wines and beverages for all passengers.  THAI also offers personal entertainment systems, generous luggage allowances, mileage accrual, free seat selection and legendary hospitality and service in all cabin classes.  Special meal menus offer over 20 meal choices for religious, dietary and health requirements.

THAI's Samrab Thai menu is available for selection in Royal Silk Business Class on all flights between Australia and Thailand.  The All Day Dining selections are available on day flights from Bangkok to Australia and also from Bangkok to Europe.
