This Friday 17th February, Ramblers Walking Holidays' Ambassador, Julia Bradbury rolls three great walks into one on the Isle of Man in the final programme of her series 'Britain's Best Walks' on ITV at 8pm.
Using her expert knowledge and experience, viewers are taken on a journey through the Isle of Man's gentle rolling hills, ancient woodland glens and along sweeping coastline to hidden coves uncovering some of island's most interesting sights - often only accessible by foot.
Starting with the mysterious Dhoon Glen river walk to the magnificent Irish Sea coast, Julia then takes a magical walk down the Laxey Valley to explore its mining heritage and climb the world's tallest water wheel, before hiking to the island's highest peak Snaefell Mountain. Here, breathtaking views can be enjoyed from the summit out over the ocean to the Scottish coast, Cumbrian hills of the Lake District, Ireland's Mountains of Mourne and Welsh Mountains of Snowdonia.
If viewers are inspired by what they see, they can follow in Julia's footsteps with Ramblers Walking Holidays (01707 331133, www.ramblersholidays.co.uk) on their seven night 'Isle of Man' holiday.
Based in the charming capital of Douglas and walking an average of 7 to 10 miles each day, the trip covers many of the areas highlighted in the programme as well as taking in some of the best sections of the island's 95 mile coastal path, parts of the Millennium Way and the ascent of Snaefell by mountain railway. Walkers also get the opportunity to try out an array of the island's quirky transport - steam trains, horse drawn trams, vintage buses and electric tramway – with local transport and a Go Explore pass included in the trip. With Neolithic and Viking sites along the trail, as well as fascinating wildlife including puffins, wallabies, four horned Loaghtan Sheep and the curious Manx cat, the 'Isle of Man' offers a superb walking holiday full of interesting curiosities.
