Westfield's “Travel Collection” of Award-Winning Shopping Centers and International Airport Terminals Provide Travelers Inspired Cuisine Created by World-Class Chefs

Westfield Travel Collection

LOS ANGELES, CA — Given that shopping and dining are the top two activities for international travelers according to the United States Travel Association (USTA), Westfield— the widely acclaimed global leader in the design, development, and operation of cutting-edge retail destinations— is bringing entirely new culinary experiences to seven of its most prominent U.S. shopping centers and three of its busiest airport terminal locations.

Comprising the “Westfield Travel Collection” of award-winning shopping centers are Westfield San Francisco Centre and Valley Fair in Northern California, Westfield Century City and Topanga in Los Angeles, Westfield UTC in La Jolla, Westfield Garden State Plaza in New Jersey (just outside of New York City), and Westfield Southcenter in Seattle— while the airport locations include the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX, Terminal 8 at JFK International Airport in New York, and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) Terminals A and B.

Acclaimed chefs have selected Westfield Travel Collection locations such as these to debut new menus and restaurant concepts. James Beard-award winners Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne feature special picnic boxes “to go” at the Larder at Tavern inside Westfield at LAX's Tom Bradley International Terminal. Other chefs raising the bar on the traveler experience at the same terminal are well-known Top Chef Masters Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken at Border Grill— and Top Chef Winner Michael Voltaggio at ink.sack. Also at LAX, Petrossian Caviar & Champagne Bar offers a selection of 20 vodkas on site and a “Caviar Picnic in the Sky” to take on board your upcoming flight. Twelve of the Tom Bradley Terminal's eateries are local Los Angeles based brands.

Renowned chef Wang Gang selected Westfield Century City for the U.S. debut of his legendary Schezwan restaurant, Mei Zhou Don Po. In San Francisco, celebrity chef Martin Yan's latest culinary adventure is on display at Westfield San Francisco Centre's M.Y. China, where he and master noodle maker Tony Wu orchestrate their genius on traditional Chinese cooking in an eye-popping open kitchen.

The menus at these kinds of chef-driven concept restaurants are quite often customized to reflect the food and personality of each surrounding area. Other times, chefs put their own unique twist on traditional American tastes: cheeseburgers and French fries are transformed into lamb burgers with local goat cheese and crispy Brussels sprout chips; a pancake breakfast becomes maple bacon coffee cupcakes.

The Dining Terrace, a Westfield signature concept, has taken casual dining to the next level. Loving Hut, a global gourmet plant-based cuisine located at Westfield San Francisco Centre and Westfield Valley Fair entices international visitors with sumptuous vegan favorites. Westfield Valley Fair is also home to Boston lobster chef Russell Deutsch's Old Port Lobster Shack, where fresh lobsters, flown in fresh from the East Coast, are showcased in old-school lobster rolls and alongside “Chowdahs” and “Shackitizers.” Nearby, cutting-edge burger joint Super Duper Burger serves 100 percent Niman Ranch all-natural beef patties and homemade pickles.

Visitors to properties within the Westfield Travel Collection can also discover fine wines, hand-crafted beers and cocktails prepared by master mixologists, as well as specialty coffees, teas, and local fruit juices.

For a sweet conclusion to the Westfield dining experience, desserts can range from the trendy bite-sized cake lollipops at Vanilla Bake Shop located in Westfield at LAX's Tom Bradley International Terminal to the 5-pound Gummy Bear at Westfield Valley Fair's It's Sugar.

To take advantage of all these flavors and receive deals, discounts, special offers, and services, visitors can use Westfield's Traveler Privileges Card provided by dozens of participating shops and restaurants. Vouchers are available online at www.WestfieldTravelCollection.com, at local visitors' centers, or from tour operators and travel agents. The vouchers can then be presented at Westfield Guest Services concierge counters, along with an out of town driver's license or passport, in exchange for a Traveler Privileges Card. In addition, for same day purchases totaling US$2500 and above, travelers receive a Westfield gift card that can be spent at any shop or restaurant without expiration.
