To celebrate the launch of our wellness retreats in May 2016, we would like to invite you to join us on an exclusive press trip in North Wales from April 18th-19th (see info below regarding commissions).
The SEAcotherapy Concept
The SEAcotherapy concept combines the healing properties of water and mindfulness practices and has been developed by leading Counselling Psychologist Dr Victoria Galbraith. It is an innovative approach and way of engaging with the coastline to promote overall health and a sense of wellbeing, whilst embracing nature and the power of the waves.
What you will experience
Research evidence is growing which suggests that being near the coast makes people feel healthier, happier and more satisfied. SEAcotherapy retreats aim to invigorate the senses, rejuvenate the soul and facilitate growth and development.
Guide Itinerary
DAY 1
Arriving in beautiful North Wales (between 1-3pm) you will be met by a member of the SEAcotherapy team who will talk you through the details of your retreat and the activities planned. You will then have the opportunity to meet your fellow guests and settle into your room at our chosen boutique accommodation.
We will then head to the beach for an invigorating coastal walk where you can take in the breath-taking views and relax into SEAcotherapy mode!
In the evening, a delicious and healthy supper will be served, created by a holistic chef using locally sourced ingredients.
After supper, we will end the day with a soothing kindness meditation.
DAY 2
Awaking from a restful night's sleep, breakfast will be served for you to enjoy at leisure.
In the morning we will focus on the practice of mindfulness with an introduction to the technique followed by yoga or a guided mindfulness walk on the beach where you will be able to immerse your senses in the beautiful local scenery and focus your mind on the present moment.
Following our mindfulness session, we will head out for an invigorating morning of coastal activities. Paddle boarding is a great workout not only for the body, but also for the mind as it is a great stress reliever. Imagine yourself balancing on top of the ocean water and feeling the breeze blowing on your face. Being connected to nature and the ocean aids relaxation with tension and stress melting away.
Departure will be at your leisure (please let us know your train time so we can arrange a transfer to the station).

About Dr Victoria Galbraith
Dr Victoria Galbraith was raised on the North Wales Coast, supports the power of the "big blue" and has always had a love of the ocean.
She began her psychology career with a BSc (Hons) at the University of Wales, Bangor and proceeded to obtain a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. She has worked clinically and as an academic researcher as well as in the NHS and private sector; and for over a decade as a university trainer of counselling psychologists. She has also contributed to broadcast and written media and has been an 'expert' psychologist on a variety of television programmes. She has recently co-edited the 4th edition of the Handbook of Counselling Psychology, due for publication at the end of this month, and is in the process of writing another counselling psychology book.
Research evidence for the benefits of the coast or blue space are fast growing yet it is still not as well researched as green space or green care despite water covering 71% of the earth's surface.
At SEAcotherapy, we are utilising research evidence to inform our thinking and we are also aiming to further investigate the influence of the ocean, coastal activities, mindfulness and the talking therapies on wellbeing.
