Puente Romano Beach Resort & Spa, Marbella

In keeping with the global rise of wellness tourism, the recently opened Six Senses Spa Marbella is introducing a series of new results-driven yogic programmes this winter designed to achieve optimum balance of body and mind.  The  three, five and seven day programmes can be experienced in a short two and half hour journey time from the UK, eliminating the need to venture to a far flung resort for a holistic yoga escape.

The three new intensive yogic programmes - Discover Yoga, Yogic Detox and Yogic Sleep, suitable for complete novices and more accomplished yoga practitioners alike, will be taught by the spa's experienced in-house yoga master. Each programme will be tailored to the individual needs of each guest and will involve an individual yoga consultation and practice, guided meditation and a number of rebalancing spa treatments which will vary depending on the length of stay.

Framed by the Mediterranean Sea and lush botanical gardens, the luxurious Puente Romano Beach Resort & Spa Marbella provides the perfect backdrop for a wellness retreat, allowing guests to escape the pressures of daily life, recharge the batteries and restore balance between mind and body.

Programme details:

1.    Discover Yoga is available on a three, five and seven night basis and is ideal for novices and guests wishing to try a new form of body and mind exercise. The main goal is to develop an understanding of how the body engages in each posture while the yoga master guides one's awareness to specific areas and aspects of the practice to enhance the body's natural intuition. Stress release, improved flexibility plus a stronger and more powerful body are additional benefits guests can expect from the programme.

Hatha yoga practiced during the stay focuses on gentle moves with a minimum and effortless flow between each pose. Private sessions of guided meditation and breathing exercise called pranayama (breathing) will help regulate the pace of breath, relax and maintain the steadiness of the body, leading to clearer mind and better coordination during yoga practice. A selection of Six Senses signature massages and energy treatments has been included in the program to enhance the results.

Price: a seven-night Discover Yoga programme starts from €920 per person (approx. £655) including:

  • One individual yoga consultation (30 mins)
  • Three one-to-one yoga practices (60 mins)
  • One Pranayama (breathing exercises) (45 mins)
  • One guided meditation (45 mins)
  • Two signature massages (50 mins)
  • One Indian head massage (50 mins)
  • One foot acupressure session (50 mins)
  • One Chakra Balancing session (30 mins)

2.    Yogic Detox is available on a three, five and seven night basis and is suitable for more experienced yoga practitioners looking to cleanse the body and mind in a non-invasive way. It draws upon different hatha yoga cleansing techniques including sat kriya (movement and breath exercise) yogic intestinal wash, forceful exhalation breathing and candle flame meditation to cleanse the internal organs and achieve harmony between the major pranic flows. Aspects of hatha yoga postures known as asanas and more advanced practices of pranayama and meditation are incorporated along with detox treatments to offer a profound experience. Each element of this programme is introduced and tailored to the needs of the individual guest.

Price:   A seven-night Yogic Detox programme starts from €1,165 (approx. £824) including:

  • One individual yoga consultation (30 mins)
  • Three one-to-one yoga practices (60 mins)
  • One Pranayama (breathing exercises) (45 mins)
  • One guided meditation (45 mins)
  • One Yogic Intestinal Cleanse (80 mins)
  • One Morning Breeze signature olive oil and sea salt treatment (50 mins)
  • One Detox massage (50 mins)
  • One facial of choice (50 mins)
  • One foot acupressure session (50 mins)
  • One Oriental massage (50 mins)

3.    Yogic Sleep is available on three, five and seven night basis.  Research has shown time and time again that if we sacrifice sleep, we are impairing our ability to remember and learn, and in longer term, sleep deprivation leads to mood swings, depression, obesity and heart disease. Six Senses Spa Yogic Sleep is designed to boost the quality of relaxation and thus improve sleep by combining yoga nidra, pranayama and gentle yoga practice with relaxing spa treatments.

Yoga nidra, also known as yogic sleep or sleep with awareness, is a simple yet hugely effective practice most often taught lying down. Its goal is to induce full body relaxation and a deep meditative state of consciousness, addressing practitioners' psychological, neurological and subconscious needs. It also provides a set of mind-body tools that can help guests achieve everyday well-being and often navigate some of life's hardest moments. Regular practice leads to the most profound level of relaxation, improved sleep patterns and a stronger immune system.

Price:  A seven-night Yogic Sleep Programme starts from €1,080 (approx. £763) including:

  • One individual yoga consultation (30 mins)
  • Three one-to-one yoga practices (60 mins)
  • One Pranayama (breathing exercises) (45 mins)
  • Two guided meditation (45 mins)
  • Two Yoga Nidra sessions (60 mins
  • One facial of choice (50 mins)
  • One holistic massage (50 mins)
  • One Oriental massage (50 mins)
  • One Chakra Balancing session (30 mins)

The introduction of the new yogic programmes follows this summer's highly anticipated opening of the new Six Senses Spa Marbella.  Spa Director Eli Angelova comments: “Focusing these programme around Yoga was a natural decision following Six Senses commitment to reconnecting people to themselves, each other and the world around them, and the drive to be at the forefront of wellness. My personal desire is to provide results-driven authentic programmes which provide an element of education leaving guests with the ability to continue positive lifestyle changes long after they have left the resort.

These yogic programs provide education, nutritional, lifestyle advice in a relaxing, peaceful setting allowing guests to quiet their minds, learning yoga, meditation techniques and even intestinal cleanses that can be practiced regularly after staying at Puente Romano Beach Resort & Spa, Marbella.”

The new Six Senses Spa at Puente Romano Beach & Spa Resort Marbella has been specifically designed to capture the charm and character of Andalusia's famous white villages and spectacular coastal views, ensuring guests are enraptured by their surroundings.
