Fuerteventura Sky Designated as 3rd Starlight Reserve in the Canary Islands

Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real

Fuerteventura's night sky has been designated the 3rd Starlight Reserve in the Canary Islands recognised for its exceptional conditions as one of the best places to view stars without the interference of light pollution.

The 'Starlight Reserve' concept was created in 2007, in cooperation with the World Heritage Centre through its initiative “Astronomy and World Heritage”. The designation underlines a commitment to preserve the quality of the night sky and its associate values, whether they are cultural, scientific, astronomical, natural, or landscape-related.

Offering something unique to visitors, particularly for the amateur astronomer, Fuerteventura also offers over 150km of sandy beaches and turquoise waters, vast natural landscapes and year round tropical temperatures.

For observing the night sky, the five star Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahia Real is located in one of the most beautiful corners of the island, free from surrounding light pollution. An oasis of calm and tranquillity, the hotel sits right on the beach at the edge of the Corralejo Nature Reserve making it an ideal location for stargazers.

Rooms at Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahia Real are priced from £130 / 182€ per night B&B for two people. For more information, please visit please visit www.atlantisbahiareal.com
