Mini Moon Romance at The Cavendish Hotel at Baslow
set on the Chatsworth Estate
The ideal destination for a romantic stay, The Cavendish Hotel at Baslow is offering a luxury "mini-moon" break. The quintessential English country hotel exuding stylish charm and comfort, is set on the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire's Estate at Chatsworth, and all rooms offer uninterrupted views of the surrounding rolling landscape.
Newly-weds staying at the luxury four star Cavendish Hotel can indulge in a Romantic Mini-Moon with added extras to offer good value. Couples arrive to a welcome bottle of Laurent Perrier and chocolates in their room where they can relax and soak up that view. Each evening they can experience destination dining - one evening in the Garden Room looking out over the countryside, another in the candlelit Gallery Restaurant and one evening at the Kitchen Table, a table in the theatre of the kitchen indulging in a gourmet festival of treats. County breakfast each morning will set them up for the day whether it's exploring local sights, hiking over the hills, relaxing out on the terrace in summertime or cosying up in front of a fire in winter. Included in the 3 night luxury break are a pair of tickets to visit Chatsworth and a picnic hamper filled with more Champagne and goodies; the traditional wicker hamper is theirs to take home as a memento of a truly romantic break.
The price is £999 per couple for three nights, staying in a standard room, although none of the rooms can accurately be described as standard, with those views across the parkland. It includes all as described above.
Of course romantic couples may be tempted to linger a little longer... it's that sort of place. An extra night is £279 for two including dinner in the Gallery Restaurant.
Upgrades to superior rooms and suites are also available.
Please note - a Romantic Mini Moon is not just for newlyweds.... it's for a special birthday, anniversary or any other excuse you can think of!

Notes: The historic property in the pretty village of Baslow was originally the famous Peacock Inn, owned by the Duke of Rutland, although it is uncertain exactly how old it is. The hotel became part of the Duke of Devonshire's estate around 1830 and in the early 1970s was restored and restyled as the Cavendish Hotel. The Duchess of Devonshire oversees the design of the interior and throughout the hotel there are 300 pieces of original artwork.
There are two restaurants - the Gallery Restaurant which has continuously held 2 AA rosettes since 2006, and the light and airy Garden Room. The Kitchen Table provides diners with a thrilling dining experience – a 'royal box' table where they can enjoy a bespoke menu in the theatre of the kitchen.
There are 22 bedrooms and 2 suites – recently refurbished, each with its individual theme and design including original art and occasional antique furniture. Views are of the surrounding the countryside. Just one room does not face due south over the countryside.
There is also a private room for luncheons, dinner parties and meetings. The hotel's location is ideal for sight-seeing and exploring. As the closest hotel to the House and Garden at Chatsworth, it is a short walk across the fields and park. The Derbyshire Dales with all their attractions are right on the doorstep.
The General Manager is Philip Joseph who has been at the hotel since 2001. The Head Chef since 2011 is Mike Thompson.
