Abandoned 15th Century Italian Castle Converted Into Apartments

Turismo In Liguria

A 15th century castle, nestled into the hills of the Italian region of Liguria, has had a huge refurbishment and now offers apartment style accommodation. Fieschi – Senarega Castle, which has lain abandoned for decades, now has four basic bedrooms available for overnight stays, the perfect stopover for ramblers and hikers.

The small castle is located in the hills behind the city of Genoa in the rural village of Senarega. Dating back to the 15th century, it was originally used for hosting aristocratic funcions as well as a defence base. Following this it acted as a prison and from the 1830's to the 1980's as a school until the eventual abandonment of the site.

The interior and exterior of the castle have been renovated to offer four bedrooms, four bathrooms and kitchen and living room areas for guests. The castle is also available for ceremonies, exhibitions, conferences and private parties. Overnight stays start from £47 per night for a double room and £73 for a quadruple room.

The area surrounding Senarega has a wide network of trails making Fieschi Castle an ideal overnight stay for walkers, bikers and horse riders.
