KE have been taking groups of trekkers to Pakistan's Karakoram Mountains since 1984. This is where we first started and an area that we know inside out; it has a special place in our hearts. Although we have always felt Baltistan to be completely safe, for the past two years we have been unable to take groups here because of a Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advisory against all but essential travel to the region. Happily, this advice has now been rescinded and we are pleased once again, to be able to show our clients one of the most amazing places on the planet.
All our friends in the towns and villages of Skardu, Hushe and Askole, who depend on trekkers and climbers for their livelihood, are also looking forward to our return.
In September 2015 we are running a trek to the Baltoro Glacier below K2. This classic trekking holiday in the heart of the Karakoram Mountain range takes you to the glacial junction known as Concordia, which is dominated by huge and encircling peaks. Just 10 kilometres (6 miles) from the precipitous south face of K2 (8611m) and nearer still to Broad Peak (8047m) and the stupendous Gasherbrum IV (7925m), this is unquestionably one of the most spectacular camping places on earth.
