Maggie Kerrigan (L) will replace Danielle Krista (R) as PR Manager for Marine Tourism Management's group of products in Fiji and 22 Apr 2015
New PR Manager for Group of Fiji and Whitsundays Tourism Products

South Sea Cruises Ltd

Marine Tourism Management's Public Relations Manager Danielle Krista is taking maternity leave and Maggie Kerrigan will take the PR helm while she is away.

The handover will be effective from Thursday, 23 April.  Ms Krista, who has managed Marine Tourism's communications across its brands in Fiji and in the Whitsunday Islands in Australia for the past 18 months, plans to return to her Marine Tourism role in 12 months.  During her previous role with Tourism Whitsundays she was awarded Queensland Tourism Industry's Young Achiever 2012.

Ms Kerrigan has long experience in the international tourism and travel sector in the United States and in New Zealand.  In the past she has worked for the likes of Tourism New Zealand, various Australian state tourism offices, destinations in the US and Central and South America, airlines such as Air New Zealand and British Airways and a number of hotel and resort groups.

Marine Tourism's Executive Director Chris Jacobs said public relations played a vital role in the company's marketing effort in New Zealand, Australia and internationally.
“Getting the word out about our exciting holiday opportunities via the media, be it traditional print and broadcast, or online, is integral,” he said.  “Danielle has established top-level relationships for us amongst important travel writers and photographers and we know with Maggie, who has extensive experience and media contacts, our public relations will be in capable hands while Danielle is away on maternity leave.”

Ms Kerrigan said she was looking forward to working with the Marine Tourism line up of brands which include South Sea Cruises, Awesome Adventures Fiji, Blue Lagoon Cruises and the volun-tourism program Vinaka Fiji, as well as Cruise Whitsundays and Awesome Whitsundays in Australia.

“Far flung islands, tropical sunsets, white sand beaches, azure seas – what's not to like,” she said.
“Added to this, being able to promote Vinaka Fiji is hugely motivating for me.  This is a program that assists with the provision of basic needs and amenities, often taken for granted in modern society, yet missing from village life in the Yasawas.”
