2015 Dates announced for 10th Annual Boscastle Food, Art and Craft Festival

11 years after the devastating floods of 20014, Boscastle once again presents an unmissable celebration of Cornish food, arts, crafts and community.

Boscastle Festival Committee is pleased to announce the new dates for the 10th annual Boscastle Food, Art and Craft Festival, 3 4 October 2015.

Last year's festival saw over 4,000 visitors to the small coastal village, and with another incredible programme of chef demos, musical performances, craft stalls and village events, the committee is expecting even more visitors to surge in.

Headlining the Chef Demo tent at the last festival were Cornwall's three Michelin chefs, whilst the Sunday evening Choir Festival hosted a special guest performance from the Plymouth Military Wives Choir – who were so impressed with the festival that they are booked to return this year!

Chris Searle, Treasurer of the Festival Committee, says: “Last year we raised a record £9,300 for local charities and the local community. The festival is a great way to strengthen the fantastic community spirit that we have in Boscastle. It also provides a great showcase of all that we have to offer on the North Coast and Cornwall as a whole.”

The festival was conceived 10 years ago to raise awareness that the village was alive, well and open for business as well as raising funds for local charities after freak floods devastated the village in 2004. The popular festival has become not only a fitting tribute to the community's spirit, but a magnet for artisan producers, foodies, music-lovers, artists and craftspeople.

Jon Scott, owner of The Wellington Hotel in Boscastle, says: “We are proud to be involved with the Festival for the fourth year running. The programme being put together is incredibly exciting and visitors can expect another wonderful weekend and a wealth of talented chefs, musicians and artists. We are particularly looking forward this year to having more of the village and community of Boscastle on display.”

Perfect for groups, Boscastle's coast and village boast some of the most beautiful scenery in north Cornwall, attracting hundreds of walkers each year. With two open gardens to explore and numerous exhibitions around the village, there are many opportunities to admire the area's natural beauty, whilst the banks of the Valency River will become the stage for demos and activities for the groups of all ages to enjoy.

Notes to editors

Throughout the weekend a dedicated free minibus service will help visitors visit the many activities around the village. There is also a free Park & Ride service from both sides of the village, which drops visitors off in the main car park.

Boscastle Festival raises money for several charities including First Responders, Air Ambulance and Radio Cornwall charity appeals. It also raises money for local community clubs and organisations such as Coastwatch, Art Club, Camelford bus, Football club, Gig club, Playschool, Minster church and the Scouts. In 2014 almost £10,000 was raised and distributed among the charities.

For the fourth year running The Wellington Hotel is a sponsor of the Boscastle Festival. The Wellington Hotel is a 3 star country house hotel by the sea. Tucked into the hillside at the bottom of the valley and overlooking the harbour in the Cornish fishing village, the hotel is a family friendly haven on the North Cornwall coastline. Independently owned and full of characterful history. Hotelier Jon Scott is proud to support the festival and the local community.

The hotel is one of the oldest coaching inns dating back to the 16th century   – with guests ranging from Thomas Hardy, who fell in love in Boscastle inspiring his canon-worthy poetry, to royal guests who all love the habitually cosy yet modern feel inside. The Wellington Kitchen is a 2 AA Rosette establishment serving the finest quality local produce in the splendour of the recently renovated Georgian dining room. For those who want to quench their thirst The Long Bar serves Cornish cask ales, local lagers, ciders and soft drinks as well as equally superior quality pub food next to the open fire.
