British Airways Serves A Taste Of The Sky Under The Stars

British Airways

As a major sponsor of this year's Bondi Openair Cinema, British Airways hosted an exclusive event yesterday to launch new culinary delights available for its passengers from Sydney, while guests enjoyed the critically acclaimed British film, The Imitation Game.

Renowned for its world-class food offering, the British flag carrier used the opportunity to debut elements of its new First and Club World menus, with dishes including exquisite lobster medallion with mango and grapefruit salsa, sumptuous prawn with quinoa and lemon vinaigrette, and mouth-watering smoked salmon with fennel and mayo dill caper dressing.

Giving testament to Australia's position as one of the finest wine-producing countries in the world, a selection of award-winning blends from the Teusner (SA) and Logan (NSW) wineries were provided as part of a special tasting session designed to highlight the quality Australian produce served on board British Airways flights to London.

A quintessentially British cocktail with a twist was also served to guests, which was created especially for the airline by Richard Tring, UK finalist of Diageo Reserve World Class Competition 2014. Named the 'Fusion Fizz', it's an inspirational take on the classic British G&T, using a blend of Tanqueray No. Ten gin, homemade jasmine green tea syrup, tonic, and lemon sherbet.

On the evening all guests were provided with British Airways mementos, with First class pyjamas, Club World blankets and amenity kits keeping them comfy, relaxed and refreshed throughout the evening and on their future travels.

To celebrate its sponsorship of the Bondi Openair Cinema, British Airways is offering a 10% discount on all flights using the URL www.ba.com/openaircinema.

Additionally, the airline is also offering travellers the chance to experience the luxury and world-class dining in First class and Club World business class with the launch of special fares to Singapore, London and Europe, available until February 16. “British Airways is an iconic airline and what better way to showcase our new premium menu than next to one of the most iconic locations in the world,” said Nicole Backo, regional general manager, South West Pacific.

“The sponsorship of the Bondi Openair Cinema provides us with a fantastic opportunity to connect with travellers, increase brand awareness and allows our guests to experience our great British hospitality. We hope this whets their appetite and provides them with a taste of what can be experienced on-board.”
