I’ve just had a glorious week in The Tweed soaking up the winter sun and hanging out with the family. Luckily for me it coincided with the launch of the Savour the Tweed Festival coming up from 22-26 October so I got to zip around and taste-test some of the amazing food offerings in the region, try some new places and meet some of the dedicated and innovative community of people making the amazing food scene up there happen. Buzzy markets, regenerative farming, Japanese street food, fresh pasta from happy-chicken eggs, great restaurants, tropical fruits, delicious kombucha brews, oodles of cheese, natural wines in a teeny bar, long lunch on a farm and breakfasts in coastal luxury by the sea. Get on to the tickets if you want to be part of the main events – there’s 35 events over 5 days – but be warned, some tix are sold out already. Thanks for having me @TheTweed! Delish!

How do you take a trip down memory lane for yourself and keep the little people amused at the same time in the school holidays? By visiting the man from the moon himself and his friends at the National Museum’s latest Mr Squiggle exhibition. Hundreds of cartoons, puppets and works of Norman Hetherington, the creator of Mr Squiggle, the drawing puppet who graced our tvs for 40 years. Must admit the kids were way more interested in making their own artwork creations from some scribbles and making puppet shows with the interactive exhibits than anything else, but there’s a lot to see. And now I can’t get the Mr Squiggle song out of my head. And it’s free!
