Wyndham Rewards Comes Out on Top

Travel + Leisure Co.

Cardhub.com has identified the best and worst hotel rewards programs for three different spending profiles: heavy traveller, moderate traveller and light traveller.

December 18, 2015 - Wyndham Rewards, the world's most generous hotel loyalty program, has come out on top in a comparison of programs offered by 12 leading hotel chains.

CardHub compared the rewards programs using 21 key metrics, including point expiration policies, the presence of blackout dates, brand exclusions, rewards value and more. These metrics collectively speak to each program's expected value for travellers with three different hotel spending profiles: Light ($487 per year), Moderate ($779 per year) and Heavy ($1,461 per year).

The best program overall was Wyndham Rewards was top across the board for all spending levels, followed by Drury Gold and La Quinta.

Wyndham Rewards is Wyndham Hotel Group's guest loyalty program. It offers more than 40 million members the opportunity to earn and redeem points at thousands of hotels across the world and includes brands such as Wyndham Grand® Hotels and Resorts, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts®, Wyndham Garden® Hotels, TRYP by Wyndham®, Wingate by Wyndham®, Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham®, Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham®, Ramada®, Baymont Inn & Suites®, Days Inn®, Super 8®, Howard Johnson®, Travelodge® and Knights Inn®.

The new Wyndham Rewardshotel loyalty program revolutionised the loyalty landscape earlier this year when it launched under the tagline You've Earned This®. The new program is simple to understand, easy to use, and dollar for dollar, lets members earn more and redeem faster than any other program in the industry. The program bucks the travel industry trends of devalued points and confusing rewards categories and offers members a generous points earning structure and flat, free night redemption rate – the first of its kind for a major rewards program.

Wyndham Reward's core features include:

  • The “Go FreeSM” award: With just 15,000 points, members can redeem a free night at any of the program's more than 7,500 hotels globally with no blackout dates.
  • The “Go FastSM” award: Members who want to redeem their points sooner or stay longer for less can book a night at available hotels for just 3,000 points plus cash.
  • More points for faster rewards: For every qualified stay, members now earn 10 points for every dollar spent or a minimum of 1,000 points per stay, whichever is more.
