“Beat the rush,”: that's the advice from Suffolk's largest holiday lettings provider after news broke* earlier this week of Nicole Kidman and Ralph Fiennes negotiating to star in a new big budget film, “The Dig”. The film, based on the book of the same name by John Preston, is due to start being shot in the summer of 2019 and revolves around the true story of Sutton Hoo, near Woodbridge, the greatest ever Anglo Saxon archaeological find in the UK, a.k.a. 'Britain's Tutenkhamun'.
Discovered in 1939, the film will focus on the relationship between land owner Edith Pretty -one of the driving forces behind the excavation project - and Basil Brown, a self-taught Suffolk archaeologist employed by the widow.
The news about the film follows the successful lottery bid and plans approved for a new, £4m, 17 -feet viewing platform and visitor centre improvements, work which will be finished by 2021 and is set to transform the tourist experience.
“Whilst Sutton Hoo is currently a fascinating place to visit, these announcements will see visitor numbers soar to the area and, as the county's largest holiday lettings provider, we are ideally placed to offer the best choice in terms of self-catering accommodation,” says Sally Owen, Brand Manager for Suffolk Secrets.

The Old Warehouse, Woodbridge
Distance from Sutton Hoo: 3 mile drive
Sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 dogs allowed
USP's: New York style loft living
No 1930's interiors relics here, rather, “a taste of Manhattan in a market town”, is what's on offer thanks to a brand-new holiday let in Woodbridge, Suffolk. Whilst this ultra-modern industrial conversion brings to mind New York loft living thanks to its iron and steel girders and exposed brick walls, pet-friendly 'The Old Warehouse' does have an intriguing history.
Dating back to 1828, this tucked away property, just off the main Thoroughfare, has been used in various ways since, from its original purpose as a Wesleyan Meeting house, to corset factory and furniture bonding warehouse. Today, though, the thoroughly contemporary building offers holiday makers sumptuous seating and soft furnishings throughout, a wood burner, three bedrooms, open plan living with a separate snug.
Price from £544 for a 3-night short break or from £725 per week
