Viking Rated Top of the Table for Ocean Cruises in the Which? Annual Consumer Satisfaction Survey

Viking

Which?, the largest independent consumer body in the UK, reveals that Viking has come top of the table in its annual cruise satisfaction survey, making it the most highly rated 'Which? Recommended Provider' in the Ocean Cruises category.  The award-winning river and ocean cruise line performed exceptionally well in every category - a significant achievement considering Viking's first ocean ship set sail as recently as 2015.

When announcing the survey results the team at Which? said: 'The upmarket, adults-only ships allow holidaymakers to avoid the rowdy bars, casinos and 'the hard sell' synonymous with cheaper rivals - resulting in top marks for value for money.  Customers told us they appreciated the 'classy, crowd-free' atmosphere with Viking. Instead, relaxation is the focus, with a Nordic spa among facilities on offer…also lecture theatres.'

Wendy Atkin-Smith, Managing Director of Viking UK, said: “We are thrilled to top the table in the Which? ocean survey for the second year in row.  The fact that this survey was conducted by Which?, the independent champions of consumers in the UK, amongst guests who have actually travelled with us, makes it even more meaningful.  We offer an alternative to mainstream cruises – Viking is a destination-focused cruise line which offers culturally enriching experiences for curious travellers who want to explore the world in comfort.  The survey results demonstrate that guests enjoy this innovative approach to cruising including our elegant Scandinavian design and immersive destination and onboard experiences.  It's also about what we don't offer – no casinos, no hard-sell and no children under the age of 18.”

Wendy continues: “Based on the survey results and feedback from respondents, I think it is clear that what also sets Viking apart is the value we offer.  As the team at Which? has highlighted themselves, the inclusions that we provide – such as shore excursions in most ports, gratuities, return flights, complimentary use of spa facilities, no charge to dine in alternative restaurants and wine and beer with lunch and dinner - mean that guests often end up paying less overall than with other cruise lines which may initially look cheaper.”

The news about the Which? ocean survey comes hot on the heels of Viking's announcement on 15 January that it will expand its destination-focused travel experiences with the launch of new expedition voyages. Viking Expeditions will begin sailing in January 2022 with its first vessel, Viking Octantis, embarking on voyages to Antarctica and North America's Great Lakes. A second expedition vessel, Viking Polaris, will debut in August 2022, sailing to Antarctica and the Arctic.
