It has been over 100 days since the company ceased trading under government orders. The Unique Homestays team worked around the clock to cancel and postpone over 1000 bookings which were due to fall during the three-month period where travel bans were enforced across Britain due to Covid-19.

Demand for post-lockdown breaks has been the highest the company has seen in its 19 years in business – a 23% increase in bookings due to take place in Q3 compared to last year. Now that staycations can resume under eased travel measures, occupancy across the collection sits at 97% for August, with some homes seeing waiting lists reach up to 31 parties coveting the same week. As a result, to help fulfil demand, the company are on the search for more luxury homes to join their books.

When it comes to welcoming back the lucky few who have secured dates, the company have taken measures to not only keep guests safe, but also been mindful of the local communities.

We work closely with our owners to create 'insider' guides and bespoke itineraries for guests; from the best places to buy pastries to independent restaurants and the best boutiques to visit during their stay. We have had to strike a careful balance to encourage spend back into the local economies but also ensure guests are abiding by social distancing guidelines to minimise risk of spreading the virus. Unique Homestays' recommended affiliates have been exceptionally creative in devising new options for guests. South-west based chef Dave Sargent will be providing gourmet ready-meals to the doors for guests wanting a professionally cooked meal at home, while Dorset-based caterers Eat Nice. Be Nice have devised “Land Rover lunches”, dropping off or popping-up their customised Land Rover Defender in remote locations outside the properties.

The company were particularly eager to continue their wellbeing services due to the recent events. Preferred partner Whitecalm Retreats have created two bespoke experiences exclusively for Unique Homestays. The 31⁄2 hour virtual workshops cover the techniques of yoga, meditation and mindfulness, including a pre-stay consultation to tailor the package to the individual group.
