Also in the top ten last year were The Clontarf, The Arthington Guest House and Rudding Park, which all pick up awards for 2017. The Clontarf in Llandudno is recognised as the best 3-star hotel in the UK, which owner Joni Stubbs attributes to their excellent customer service and relaxed environment: “We take a relaxed and informal approach to hotel management and want all guests to feel comfortable but with all the modern comforts of today's hotel environment.”
The Arthington Guest House, which came third in the national results last year, has been crowned the best in two categories this year: B&B and Value for Money. Stephen Fazakerley cites their loyal guests as the source of success: “Of course we would not still be here if it wasn't for the guests who come and stay with us, some for the first time and some year after year.”

Peter Banks, Managing Director, attributes this to the quality of the environment: “We strive to provide the best possible value through a real care for our guests, experienced within the highest quality environment.”
The best 4-star hotel is The View at The White Horse in Woolley Moor, which is a new entry this year. Husband and wife team David and Melanie Boulby credit their suites and previous experience to the success: “It is particularly special as we built our eight, fifty square metre suites, to our own design based on experiences in other hotels and expectations of specific amenities.”
The best hotel for breakfast in the UK is H10 London Waterloo. Nerea Nuñez, Sales Manager, praises the team's dedication to staff satisfaction: “It's a testament to our team and the effort the put in every day to deliver 100%.”
Finally, The Knight Residence by Mansley Serviced Apartments in Edinburgh offers the best guest service in the UK, which Group General Manager Colin Stone also attributes to the staff: “Our staff work hard to make our guests' stays memorable, ensure their needs are met and help them make the most of their stay in Scotland's capital.”
About the data
The data for the B&B, 3-star, 4-star and 5-star categories is taken from the trivago Rating Index (tRI), which aggregates over 175 million hotel reviews globally. An algorithm is used to produce a 100-point index score, which is updated daily to produce clear, transparent and unbiased results. The data for the Best Value, Breakfast, Service and Guest Room categories was taken from a semantic analysis, in which guests' online reviews were analysed to identify which hotels scored highest in these categories. For the trivago Awards, hotels with sufficient availability and at least 20 reviews were considered.
