SINGAPORE—More than 130 international tourism organizations and travel media met for pre-scheduled one-on-one appointments and networking, at IMM Asia, a day-long event held in Singapore last week. The event was again held at the Marina Bay Sands in the lead up to ITB Asia, Singapore's largest travel trade show.
“We are thrilled to see so many quality media and exhibitors return to our International Media Marketplace event in Asia this year,” said Nick Wayland, CEO and Founder of TravMedia. “IMM's popularity and success is based on the unique format of robust and engaging one-on-ones with travel providers, giving journalists the chance to plan a year's worth of stories, familiarisation opportunities, and features in one day.”
At the Singapore event, media from more than 60 titles – including national and metropolitan newspapers, glossy magazines, trade publications, and digital platforms – connected via TravMedia with representatives from hotel groups, airlines, international and regional tourism bodies representing destinations across the USA, Australasia, New Zealand, Austria, Vienna and Finland.
“IMM Asia is just like speed dating, offering a rare opportunity where Asia's most prestigious media from titles such as South China Morning Post, Tatler and CNN.com are all in one room, with a pen and paper in hand ready for focused discussions with travel brands,” said Nicolette Mewing, Regional Director of TravMedia Asia.
“The IMM Asia program was conveniently timed to again coincide with ITB Asia, as the industry converges on Singapore to network and share ideas within this top source market.”
The event also incorporated networking opportunities outside of the marketplace: a sit-down luncheon sponsored by Brand USA, and a sundowner cocktail reception hosted at the exclusive new Bar Rouge on the 71st floor of the Swissotel The Stamford, sponsored by AccorHotels.
Airline Partner Scoot supported flights for over 30 top-tier travel editors and journalists from across the Asia-Pacific region. AccorHotels, Preferred Hotel Group and IHG provided accommodations for the visiting journalists in Singapore.
Planning for TravMedia's IMM Asia 2018 is underway and we expect another stellar line up of media and travel brands at next year's event, said Nicolette Mewing.
TravMedia's IMM has become the leading travel industry event for making lasting connections. New York's IMM event is scheduled for January 25, 2018, with more than 200 exhibitors and 300 journalists already anticipated. Sydney's popular IMM will take place February 23, followed by IMM Germany, prior to ITB Berlin, the inaugural IMM France, the UK's seventh annual IMM will be held in London on March 12, 2018, followed by the inaugural IMM Brazil to be held the day before WTM Latin America.
