About Taittinger

The Beginning – When Pierre Taittinger first discovered the Champagne region, he was a young liaison officer during the First World War. It was thanks to his passion for wine and gastronomy that he returned several years later and, with his brother-in-law, invested all his energy into the development of a nascent champagne business.

Birth of an Identity – Since 1932, Champagne Taittinger has grown and taken its place among the great champagne Houses, imposing with audacity an innovative style particularly influence by Chardonnay.

Today – Having brought back the family business in the summer of 2006, Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger has surrounded himself with a team that is both young and bound together by a spirit of conquest and continuity. His daughter Vitalie and son Clovis have accompanied him on this adventure.

Taittinger - James Bond's Champagne of Choice

In Ian Fleming's very first novel about the suave secret agent, James Bond, just prior to defeating Le Chiffre at the gaming tables of Royal Les Eaux, Bond is said to enjoy a glass of Taittinger with Vesper.

Unfortunately in the Bond movies, the need to finance them with product placement has allowed Dom Perignon to become, in the public's eye, James Bond's champagne of choice.

“Taittinger was actually Ian Fleming’s favorite champagne,” said Justin Llewellyn, brand ambassador for Taittinger and the son of the late Desmond Llewellyn, who played gadget master ‘Q’ in many of the Bond films.

“We have a letter from Ian Fleming thanking M. Taittinger for a dozen bottles, and Taittinger was mentioned in Casino Royale, Moonraker, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and Goldfinger,” he added.
