The Travel & Leisure Magazine, a long-established independent publication which circulates in London and the Home Counties, is relaunching with an increase in frequency, more travel content and a new editor.

As from the March 2009 issue, it is going to bi-monthly from quarterly and will carry a much more targeted focus on travel, holidays and leisure time. The revamped title will be edited by award-winning travel journalist Peter Ellegard. First published in 1993, The Travel & Leisure Magazine was edited for more than three years by Helene Hodge, who brought in a fresh focus on travel and lifestyle issues. She was spearheading the relaunch and continued working on the magazine right up until her sudden and unexpected death, from a long illness, in December.

Publisher Terry Stafford said: �Sadly, Helene will not be able to see the next stage of The Travel & Leisure Magazine�s progression. She will be greatly missed by all who worked on and contributed to the magazine, and of course by our readers.�

He added: �As our new editor, Peter Ellegard is the right man to lead us forward into the next stage of our journey. He joins us with a wealth of experience, having worked in many spheres and travelled the globe to many far flung and interesting destinations.

�We know our readers will continue to enjoy the magazine as these and many other experiences are uncovered for them to read about, and hopefully discover for themselves.�

�I am honoured and delighted to be taking on this role,� said Ellegard. �Having written for The Travel and Leisure Magazine for the past 18 months, it is a tremendous opportunity to continue Helene�s great work and take it to the next level.

�I intend to make the magazine not only an interesting read but relevant to today�s challenging economic conditions, and I look forward to working with everyone in the travel industry as the publication evolves.�

� Peter Ellegard has been a travel writer for over 25 years. A former features editor of leading travel industry title Travel Trade Gazette, he has been a freelance journalist and photographer since 2002. His career has seen him present a TV series in China, write travel guidebooks, edit golf directories and supplements, write for many consumer and travel trade publications in the UK and worldwide, and win awards for his photography and writing. He will continue working as a freelance journalist.
