•  Located in Southeast Florida, the 2,000-square-mile region is the largest county southeast of the Mississippi River and is larger than two U.S. states- Rhode Island and Delaware.

Resort Courses- Among the destination's numerous luxury resorts are three of South Florida's top golf resorts, each with their own pristine courses: The Breakers, The Boca Raton Resort & Club, and PGA National Resort & Spa.  Public Courses-More than 40 public golf courses provide an opportunity for golf enthusiasts on any budget to enjoy a round while visiting The Palm Beaches as well.  It is only fitting that The Palm Beaches and Boca Raton is also home to the biggest golf organization in the world - the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) - whose highly-anticipated annual tournaments also make The Palm Beaches a prime destination for spectators and more passive golf enthusiasts.  The annual Allianz Championship and Honda Classic are held in February and March respectively, and are both sanctioned by the PGA Tour.  The Palm Beaches also has dozens of schools and academiesavailable for anyone who wants to learn or perfect their game.

• Delray Beach's Atlantic Avenue- Shoppers stroll the quaint shops and boutiques of the popular Atlantic Avenue and Pineapple Grove.
• Downtown Boca Raton-   Mizner Park and Royal Palm Place offer upscale shopping venues with Mediterranean-style courtyards.

• The Palm Beaches have approximately 1,100 private and public tennis courts for all levels of play.  There's also theDelray Beach Tennis Center, an 8,200-seat stadium, which accommodates the annual International tennis Championships in January and February, and the Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Raton, designed for all ages and all levels.
• As the Winter Equestrian Capital of the World, world-renowned polo fields and stadiums are sprinkled throughout the area.  The Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington takes place every January through April, while the International Polo Club Palm Beach features high-goal competitions through the January-April season.
• The prestigious National Croquet Center in West Palm Beach is the largest of its kind in the world, boasting a 19,000-square-foot clubhouse and accommodates tournaments, basic instruction, and private parties.
•  Tennis, croquet and motorsports are other popular events enjoyed throughout the destination.

Polo and Equestrian

• Considered the Winter Equestrian Capital of the World.
• The Jim Brandon Equestrian Center hosts Florida Quarter Horse Association and Gold Coast Dressing Association shows, as well as drill team competitions, barrel racing, team penning, clinics, and breed shows.  The 111-acre site houses a covered arena, five lighted show rings, stalls, trails, and an open riding area.
• From January through April, guests enjoy Sunday Brunch while enjoying a polo match at the International Polo Club Palm Beach in Wellington.
• During the winter, world-class equestrian facilities feature polo, steeplechase, and dressage
• There are more than 300 miles of area riding trails throughout The Palm Beaches

EcoTourism

• There are 63 parks and eco attractions throughout The Palm Beaches
• Visitors can find three sites connected to Florida's Indian Heritage, which  goes all along Florida's Atlantic Coast within the Palm Beaches
• With more than16,000 nests in 2010, we have the second highest sea turtle nesting location in Florida for Loggerhead, Leatherback, and Green turtles. We also have the largest nesting area in South Florida - over 40 miles.
• Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail / Florida Trail-  One of only 14 official Florida Trail Gateway Communities, we feature the only part of the Trail that runs from the Lake to the Atlantic Ocean

History

• Jupiter Lighthouse
  • Located in the destination's northern region, the Jupiter Lighthouse is the first and only nationally-designated Outstanding Natural Area east of the Mississippi River.
• Henry  Flagler's Legacy
  • In 1893, Henry M. Flagler declared the 16-mile-long barrier island of Palm Beach as a "veritable paradise." 
  • Instead of enjoying life as a wealthy retiree (Standard Oil Company), Flagler dedicated his resources and creativity into building Florida. 
  • From the expansion of the East Coast Railroad, and the legendary Breakers hotel, to his private estate, Henry Flagler's mark can be seen throughout this south Florida destination. 
• Addison Mizner's Influence
  • Known for bringing in a distinct Mediterranean-style architecture to the area, Addison Mizner left behind the upscale Boca Raton Resort & Club
  • He was also the influence behind the downtown shopping, dining and entertainment district in downtown Boca Raton known as Mizner Park. 

Everglades

• Over 30 natural areas with more than 30,000 acres of natural wonder
• Approximately 140,000 of the 165,000 acres of Northeastern Everglades Natural Area(NENA) are in Palm Beach County.   This includes:
  • 14 miles of Atlantic Ocean coastline, Loxahatchee Wild & Scenic River, two State Parks, anational Wildlife Refuge, links to the 110-mile Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail & Big Water Heritage Trail, 25 Natural Areas, Preserves & Parks, over 300 miles of hiking & horse trails,and three Wildlife Management Areas
• The nationally-designated Wild and Scenic Loxahatchee River contains the largest and most pristine remaining part of northern Florida Everglades, the Marshall Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge. The 400-acres Cypress Swamp is the largest remaining section of a swamp strand that ran from Lake Okeechobee to Fort Lauderdale.
• Grassy Waters Preserve / Apoxee Park is an over 20-square-mile area in West Palm Beach and is the largest city park in South Florida that features the Everglades.

Driving

• By car, travelers can follow either Interstate 95 or Florida's Turnpike, which run the length of the county and feature multiple exits at or near essential streets.
