Located at the gateway to France’s South-West region, ‘Le Bar’ at Grand Hôtel de Bordeaux & Spa has taken inspiration from its surroundings to launch a brand new cocktail menu featuring local ingredients and historic Bordelais figures.
The inventive new menu devised by Head Barman Sébastien Grosse will pay tribute to the hotel’s geographical heritage. Made using an unusual blend of local artisanal spirits and hand-crafted ingredients, the menu will showcase a wide range of cocktails including:
· ‘Sazerac Original’ – a cognac-based cocktail made from Absinthe, sugar and the bright-red Peychaud’s Bitters, a Bordeaux family creation
· ‘Moscow Mule’ – made using the local Pyla Vodka combined with lemon juice and ginger beer. The Pyla Vodka takes its name from Europe’s tallest sand dune, the Dune du Pyla, located in the nearby Arcachon Bay area
· ‘Dry Martini’ – the ultimate cocktail for both wine and gin lovers made using the ultra-premium G-Vine gin, hand-crafted in the nearby Cognac region and infused with the rare green grape flower
· ‘Alienor’ – named after Eleanor of Aquitaine (Queen consort of both Louis VII of France and Henry II of England during the High Middle Ages), this cocktail is made from the French aperitif wine Lillet Rosé, which is a blend of Bordeaux Grand Cru red and white grape varietals
Open from 10.30am to 1.00am*, guests can enjoy an afternoon cocktail, aperitif or digestif paired with a selection of regional delicacies, including foie gras tartines from the Landes and local charcuterie. With its relaxed but alluring atmosphere, ‘Le Bar’ is the perfect evening ‘rendez-vous’ spot, providing guests and Bordelais residents with a taste of Bordeaux’s finest cocktails within a glamorous setting.
*excluding Mondays and Sundays when Le Bar closes at midnight
