Paul Gogarty Communications has been appointed to handle Visit Suffolk's PR and is keen to support media visits. We'd also like to inform you of some great hooks for upcoming stories including cycling the Painters' Trail while celebrating the 290th anniversary of Gainsborough's birth; the opening of the first national gallery devoted to sport; and going wild in East Anglia's activity capital.
In mid September 2016 The National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art opens in Newmarket. Spanning five acres and built on the site Charles II occupied when he founded the global HQ of horseracing 350 years ago, the new Centre will comprise of three attractions. The first ever National Gallery of British Sporting Art will display the finest collection of sporting art with significant loans from the Tate and V&A among others. The new National Horseracing Museum will stage internationally significant collections, interpreted with the latest audio-visual and interactive technologies telling the story of the 'sport of kings' with a specific focus on the science behind the evolution of the thoroughbred. The final and most exciting part of the Heritage Centre will be a live horse experience in the new home for Retraining of Racehorses Charity. The Painters' Trail. Explore the 69-mile Suffolk Painters' Trail that connects Gainsborough's home in Sudbury with that of Constable at Flatford. Britain's two most feted landscape painters were inspired by the countryside they inhabited and this trail between Gainsborough House and Constable's Flatford Mill takes in the best of it. Information on a 23-mile shorter version of the cycling route is also available. The county will be celebrating the 290th anniversary of Gainsborough's birth in May 2017.
