WATER PARK OPENS FOR SUMMER SEASON WITH NEW NAME AND ATTRACTION

Families looking to make a splash this summer can enjoy a thrilling new wave machine, exciting waterslides, lazy river tubing and a sparkling pool with private cabanas at the newly-rebranded Wet 'n' Wild Palm Springs. Previously known as Knott's Soak City Park, the 21-acre waterpark reopened last month with fresh appeal for summer 2014.

With waves of fun planned for the summer season, the opening of Wet 'n' Wild brings surfing to the Californian desert for the first time this year. The park's latest water-based attraction, The Flow Rider, is a brand new high-octane wave machine that allows visitors to experience the thrill of catching the perfect wave. The surfing stimulator features a thin sheet of water under high pressure to create an artificial wave that guests can surf or board on.

In addition to its new attraction, Wet 'n' Wild Palm Springs is offering FREE 'Dive in Movies' with the chance for families to catch their favourite films while relaxing poolside, as well as a new Season Pass that allows unlimited visits all season long from just $55.50 (approximately £33), for added fun in the sun. Further perks on offer include special discounts on in-park purchases and 'bring a friend' offers, plus priority entrance into the park for pass holders visiting in 2014.

These new launches complement the park's 13 thrilling waterslides, expansive lazy river, tidal wave pool and family treehouse containing waterslides, hose jets, water curtains and 1,000-gallon dropping water bucket. There is also a poolside cabana bar, two restaurants and ice cream snack shacks located within the aquatic adventure land.

Palm Springs makes a wonderful family destination for those looking to combine outdoor adventure with casual relaxation in a destination famed for its hot summer climate and endless blue skies. Whether kids are flying a virtual plane at the Palm Springs Air Musuem, taking a trip on the world's highest rotating tramcar, learning about native Indian heritage while hiking the Indian Canyons or cheering on the local baseball team at the Palm Springs Power Stadium, there is plenty to entertain visitors of all ages – with cool and inviting pools available at every turn for when the desert sunshine gets too much.

Wet 'n' Wild is open for visitors from selected dates in May 2014, see www.wetandwildpalmsprings.com for more information.
