Scenic Airlines

LAS VEGAS - Starting December 29, 2004, Scenic Airlines will begin operating daily flights between Las Vegas, Nevada and Palmdale, California. Las Vegas residents will now be able to enjoy direct, non-stop flight service to Southern California from North Las Vegas Airport. Scenic's one hour and ten minute flight offers a convenient way to escape the weekend traffic congestion between Nevada and California while avoiding the parking fees and often crowded McCarran International Airport. To celebrate this new service, Scenic is offering a special introductory fare of only $49 one way.

Palmdale is located in the Antelope Valley of Southern California, approximately one hour north of Los Angeles and is favorably located only 45 minutes from Magic Mountain, Universal Studios and other popular Southern Californian attractions. Palmdale Airport car rentals are available from Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Chad Dixon, President of Scenic Airlines said, Southern California is the strongest market for Las Vegas tourism. Scenic initiating air service to Palmdale, a large community base currently with no air service, is a great fit for our company and our goals to expand scheduled service operations for smaller size aircraft into Las Vegas.

Palmdale also offers Las Vegas residents a great alternative to the congestion of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Las Vegas residents will soon discover that flying between the two regional airports of North Las Vegas and Palmdale offers a more convenient and hassle-free experience than McCarran and LAX. Free parking, less traffic and fewer passengers are just a few of the advantages.Mayor Jim Hahn of Los Angeles stated, Palmdale Regional Airport plays a key role in my vision for a truly regional approach to meeting the demand for air service in Southern California in the 21st Century while help to alleviate congestion at LAX. I am pleased that Scenic Airlines has chosen Palmdale as its newest destination and we will be able to reopen the Palmdale Airport before year-end.Scenic will initially operate 10 weekly roundtrip flights using 19-passenger De Havilland Twin Otter Vistaliner aircraft. A special introductory fare of $49 one-way will be offered and regular fares will start at $79 one-way. Flights can be booked online at www.scenic.com or by calling 800-634-6801.Scenic Airlines will operate these flights from the North Las Vegas Airport, located approximately 25 minutes from the downtown Las Vegas Strip. As a free complimentary service to our clients, Scenic offers door-to-door shuttle service to and from the North Las Vegas Airport to the Strip hotels and McCarran International Airport.

It will be absolutely fantastic to have commercial flights coming in and out of the Palmdale Regional Airport again, said Mayor Jim Ledford of Palmdale. The city certainly appreciates all of the efforts of Mayor Hahn, Los Angeles World Airports, (Los Angeles County) Supervisor Mike Antonovich's office and Scenic Airlines to make this happen, he added.Antonovich added, "Scenic's service out of Palmdale Regional Airport is an important step in the development of a regional approach to meet Southern California's air travel into the future. It will enhance the Antelope Valley economy and provide convenient air travel for North Los Angeles County residents from the Antelope and Santa Clarita Valleys to the San Fernando Valley."

Scenic Airlines, headquartered in North Las Vegas, is one of the few airlines in the world operating as a both a sight-seeing tour operator and regional air carrier.
