Thames Clippers, the TFL supported Thames fast ferry commuter service, will be extending its Riverline services as far as Royal Arsenal Pier at Berkeley Homes Royal Arsenal development, which forms part of the entire regeneration of a historic riverside location. The six month trial for the ferry service will commence on Monday 27th June.

Berkeley Homes have been both instrumental and supportive in bringing a commuter boat service to Woolwich, with research showing that an easy route into Canary Wharf and the City would be well patronised. Mark Dickinson, Operations Director for Berkeley Homes (East Thames) commented;

'With over 1,200 people already forming part of a thriving and sustainable community at Royal Arsenal and the current pressure on the overground services, the opportunity to travel in comfort with some great views of London direct to Canary Wharf is most welcome.'

Thus Royal Arsenal pier becomes the new Easterly terminus for Riverline services, much to the delight of Thames Clippers' Managing Director, Sean Collins:

'Viewed from the comfort of our boats the regeneration of the waterfront over the past decade has been really impressive. Like all those who work on the Thames, I find the opening of a new pier, and the opportunith to introduce the public to the pleasures and convenience of river travel, simply fantastic news.'

The pier itself was initially built as part of the Millenium celebrations in 2000, but has until now only seen occasional use. Initially services will run at peak commuter hours and regularly on Saturdays, some connecting at Canary Wharf, some running the length of the Riverline into Central London at Savoy Pier. On Saturdays the service will also provide good access for visitors to 'Firepower' the exhibition centre and Royal Arsenal's sales and marketing suite.

A single fare to Canary Wharf will cost �3.00 and a return �5.00, with discounts for travel card holders. Three month season tickets will also be available. A full service scedule is available on the Thames Clippers' website at www.thamesclippers.com
