The Californian city of Palm Springs has ranked among the Top 25 Destinations in the United States, as voted for by TripAdvisor users as part of the 2015 Travellers' Choice Awards. These annual awards honour the best destinations and hotels in the world, determined from ratings by millions of real travellers over the last 12 months.
This year, Palm Springs placed in 17th position - marking the third consecutive year the city has placed within the top 25. “We are thrilled to be honoured again,” said Mary Jo Ginther, Director of Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism. “To be included with much larger cities like New York, Chicago and Los Angeles is an indication of what a special and unique city Palm Springs is.”
In addition, a number of Palm Springs' boutique hotels received 2015 Travellers' Choice Awards in the following top categories: Top 25 Small Hotels, Service, Romance and Bargain Hotels.
Over the past five years, Palm Springs has invested millions of dollars into hotel and business incentive programmes. New and rebranded hotels, along with new dining and entertainment venues have recently burst onto the Palm Springs scene - with more in development - resulting in a significant increase in visitors and bringing more “hip” and “cool” tourism offerings to holidaymakers from around the world.
TripAdvisor has bestowed multiple awards to many independent hotels in Palm Springs and this year is no exception. “The personal attention and distinctive experience provided by our boutique hotels is unique to Palm Springs,” said Ginther. “We have a large collection of small hotels offering affordable luxury and world-class service.” Included in the 2015 Traveller's Choice Awards in the U.S. are:
- Top 25 Small Hotels: Palm Springs Rendezvous (1st place), La Maison (5th place), and San Giuliano (17th place)
- Top 25 Hotels for Service: Hotel California (1st place), Palm Springs Rendezvous (2nd place), Desert Riviera Hotel (6th place), Avanti Hotel (7th place)
- Top 25 Hotels for Romance: Desert Riviera Hotel (2nd place), Hotel California (3rd place), Avanti Hotel (11th place), La Maison (13th place), San Giuliano (19th place)
- Top 25 Bargain Hotels: Hotel California (2nd place), Desert Riviera Hotel (3rd place), Queen of Hearts Resort (9th place)
Palm Springs has more than 70 boutique mid-century modern classics and Spanish villas nestled in and around the vibrant city of Palm Springs. Many of the small hotels in Palm Springs are independently owned and operated, including the largest collection of LGBT resorts in the United States.
