Mandarin Oriental Spas Are Voted Top Choice By Conde Nast Travelers Discriminating Readers

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group

NEW YORK, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is leading the way in the development of luxury spa concepts, as recognized by readers of both the U.S. and U.K. versions of Cond Nast Traveler. American readers have awarded The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, New York, which opened only 18 months ago, the highest overall score in the Urban Hotel Spa category, as featured in the April 2005 Readers Poll. The luxury spa, characterized in the article as an oasis of calm high above Columbus Circles hubbub was also awarded the highest rating for Treatments in the category. The survey asked 17,000 Cond Nast Traveler readers for their impressions of spas which they had visited in the past three years.

Readers of Cond Nast Traveller, U.K., voted The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Miami the Best Urban Day Spa Overseas, with the New York and Bangkok spas coming in at #3 and #7 respectively in the February issue. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London earned the second highest rating in the survey for Best Urban Day Spa UK. Overall, the Miami, New York and London spas were ranked in The Worlds Top 25. No other hotel company had as many spas represented in the rankings.

We are delighted to be acknowledged for offering exceptional spa experiences, said Edouard Ettedgui, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Groups Chief Executive. Each Spa at Mandarin Oriental is designed to offer a holistic experience that goes beyond simply delivering massages to tired bodies. All-encompassing, highly personalised spa programmes are created in sophisticated and luxurious surroundings all of which draw on our Groups oriental origins. The focus on luxury spas within the Groups collection of highly individual hotels is a strategic step in the growth of the Mandarin Oriental brand. The Group recognized the importance of the spa market a few years ago and has put dedicated resources in place to expand and develop Mandarin Orientals signature spa concepts. A highlight for the Groups spa experience is the signature Time Ritual, which encourages guest to book time rather than specific treatments so that services can be tailored to meet individual needs. The experience is designed to inspire guests towards lifestyle improvements and the surroundings also contribute with emphasis placed on the design of spa spaces that cultivate a sense of tranquility.

The Group has recently introduced a signature spa line that includes clothing, aromatherapy based body and bath oils, tea-infusions and an oriental-inspired CD collection all of which are designed to encourage guests to continue the well-being process at home.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has established itself at the forefront of the spa industry, leading some of the most advanced facilities and treatment programs available to spa-goers today. The Group currently operates spas in London, Paris, New York, Washington D.C., Miami, Honolulu, Bermuda, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Surabaya, Macau and Manila. There are a further seven under development in new and existing hotels around the world. The Spas at Mandarin Oriental are dedicated to promoting wellness in the broadest context, and have been consistently recognized by influential global publications as among the worlds finest.
