Mandala Hotels & Resorts has completed a multi-million-dollar transformation of the former Mercure Clear Mountain, unveiling the property as Peppers Clear Mountain. The extensive redevelopment encompassed guest rooms, dining and event spaces, and the surrounding grounds, marking a new chapter for the hinterland property and forming part of Mandala's broader investment in the City of Moreton Bay.
Set across 20 hectares of pristine bushland overlooking the Glass House Mountains, the 51-room retreat has long offered Brisbane locals an easy escape into nature. Mandala's investment preserves that sense of calm while introducing elevated interiors, refined finishes and thoughtfully curated experiences throughout, positioning Peppers Clear Mountain as a premium destination for memorable stays, weddings and corporate retreats.
As part of the Accor network, Peppers Clear Mountain benefits from Accor's global distribution platforms, ALL.com and the ALL Accor loyalty programme, extending its reach to domestic and international travellers. It also joins the wider Peppers collection across Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia, known for distinctive properties, a strong sense of place and attentive, personalised service.
The project was delivered in partnership with hospitality design and construction firm Dezign, whose integrated approach created a cohesive new identity across the restaurant and bar, guest rooms and outdoor areas. Together, these enhancements elevate the guest experience and support the property's long-term performance.
Transformation Highlights
The redevelopment extends throughout Peppers Clear Mountain, bringing a renewed sense of quality and cohesion across its accommodation, dining, event and leisure spaces.
All 51 guest rooms have been refurbished, introducing a refined new look and premium standard while retaining the character and connection to nature that define the property.
The Glasshouse Restaurant brings a sophisticated yet relaxed approach to dining, with warm interiors centred around a statement fireplace, banquette seating, lounge spaces and a contemporary bar. Two private dining rooms, including one with its own balcony, offer intimate settings for special occasions, while a new menu gives the restaurant a distinct culinary identity for hotel guests, locals and visitors to the region.
The hotel's refreshed venues offer flexible configurations for up to 150 guests, suited to conferences, meetings, weddings and private events. New packages and an elevated food and beverage offering give organisers greater flexibility to shape each event around its purpose and guests.
A dedicated billiard room and newly equipped gym provide additional leisure facilities for guests throughout their stay.
Across the grounds, the pool is framed by new decking and glass balustrades, with contemporary furnishings creating a relaxed setting among the treetops. A central fountain now forms a focal point on Serenity Lawn, while improvements to the walkway between the Pavilion and vineyard create a more seamless connection between the two spaces. The Chef's Garden introduces a garden-to-table element, supplying fresh, seasonal produce for The Glasshouse menu.
A newly finished porte-cochère creates a stronger sense of arrival, leading into updated reception and foyer areas. Improvements to guest amenities and lighting throughout bring a consistent finish to the hotel's shared spaces.
A New Standard for the Region
The investment reflects Mandala's broader strategy of recognising the potential in properties with strong foundations and strengthening their market appeal and long-term performance. Peppers Clear Mountain now brings together premium accommodation, destination dining, versatile function spaces and enhanced leisure experiences within a distinctive hinterland setting.
City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said it was exciting to see the transformation of the popular mountaintop escape into a premium retreat now complete.
“Peppers Clear Mountain is the first 5-star hotel in City of Moreton Bay, a testament to our ever-growing appeal as a leisure and business destination,” he said.
With demand for premium escapes continuing to grow, Peppers Clear Mountain is well placed to attract leisure travellers, destination weddings and corporate retreats, while remaining within easy reach of Brisbane's CBD and airport.
“This premium venue is a welcome development for our tourism and major events industry which is experiencing high demand from leisure and corporate guests. The investment in this stunning hotel also demonstrates the confidence that investors have in the economic strength and opportunities of City of Moreton Bay. The project strengthens Mandala's growing Australian portfolio and reinforces the group's commitment to creating distinctive, high-performing destinations.”
