NEW HOTELS
PALAZZO CINQUECENTO (5*) in Rome
NH Hotels has added its third property to its NH Collection in Rome, the Palazzo Cinquecento. The new hotel, housed in a historical building, is located in Piazza dei Cinquecento, near Termini station, so it is very central for sightseeing and shopping. The Hotel offers 177 rooms which are decorated with elegant Italian style, all featuring large, comfortable beds. All rooms have free Wifi and flat-screen TVs, while some have views over the gardens and ancient ruins of Mura Serviane. Others offer stunning views over the city. MIRTILLO ROSSO FAMILY & CHRISTMAS HOTEL (4*) near Monte Rosa
The Mirtillo Rosso Family Hotel was recently opened in Riva Valdobbia in the Monte Rosa region of Piedmont. If you are a Christmas fanatic this is your place! Every 24th of the month the hotel celebrates Christmas Eve with a special dinner and a biscuit and cake workshop for the children. The Christmas room is a space dedicated to children where they can play in total safety in the company of “Rudolf the reindeer”. FALKENSTEINER FAMILY RESORT (5*) in Capo Boi, Sardinia
The Falkensteiner Family Resort will open in June in Capo Boi in Sardinia, one hour's drive from Cagliari. The resort will offer 147 rooms, family rooms and suites and it is aimed at families and children. HOTEL IL SERENO (5*) on Lake Como
The Hotel Il Sereno in Torno, Lake Como, will open this summer to complete the collection of properties on the lake by Sereno Hotels. Il Sereno, formerly Villa Flora, sits on a scenic promontory on the lake's eastern shores and can be reached by a wood motorboat steered by clients themselves or a Vaporina (water limousine) for those who prefer to be transported in luxury by a chauffer. The renowned Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola has designed the interiors of the hotel in an understated yet timeless style. The hotel will offer 34 rooms all with views over the lake and private terraces, a spa, an infinity pool and a gourmet restaurant.

VILLA PLINIANA HOTEL AND EVENT VENUE (5*) on Lake Como
Villa Pliniana Hotel and event venue has been inaugurated this March on Lake Como after extensive renovation work by Sereno Hotels. The villa originates from the 16th century and over the centuries it has been visited by some of the most famous artists and historical figures such as Shelley, Byron, List, Bellini etc. Villa Pliniana offers 19 suites, 2 ballrooms for events and 2 smaller meeting rooms. Three more villas: Casa Shelley, Casa dei Plini and Rifugio da Vinci all offer 2 or 4 rooms each. The complex also has a well equipped spa and guests can use the heliport to reach the villa.
ROOM MATE GIULIA HOTEL (4*) in Milan
Giulia, the latest addition to the Room Mate Design Hotel chain has recently opened in Milan near the Duomo and the Galleria The hotel has 85 rooms, a wellness centre and free wi-fi. EUROSTARS CENTRALE PALACE (4*) in Palermo, Sicily
Within walking distance from the cathedral and very close to Maqueda Street, the hotel Eurostars Central Palace has recently been opened by the hotel chain Eurostars. Located in the heart of Palermo, the establishment occupies the old Palazzo Tarallo building and has kept the original structure decorated with vintage frescos and furniture. The Hotel offers 104 family rooms, double superior rooms, diplomatic suites and junior suites, among others. GARDALAND ADVENTURE HOTEL (4*) at the Gardaland Theme Park and Resort
The new Gardaland Adventure Hotel will open in June at the Gardaland Theme Park and Resort in Castelnuovo del Garda near Lake Garda. This new hotel extends over 15000 sqms and will have 100 themed rooms, to name a few: Jungle Adventure, Artic Adventure, Arabian Adventure and Wild West Adventure. RE-OPENING OF GRAND HOTEL ORIENTE (4*) in Naples

A new restaurant will also be added to the existing “Dopolavoro Restaurant” which was recently awarded a Michelin star and it will offer more vegetarian/vegan dishes and have also a barbecue corner.

UPDATES AT THE ROSA ALPINA (5*), San Cassiano in the Dolomites

FASHION FOODBALLER LOUNGE-RESTAURANT in Florence

TRATTORA BERTAME' in Milan
After a careful restoration work, the historic car repair workshop Bertame' has found a new life as Trattoria Bertame' Via Lomonaco, the décor is modern and colourful yet extremely welcoming. Major attraction of the trattoria is the winter garden, located under a pergola with a magnificent wisteria tree, a peaceful corner in the hustle and bustle of Milan. The young talented chef Uriel Manuel Cosi prepares seasonal menus combining traditional flavour and more modern touches such as spaghetti di Gragnano with clams and bottarga, sweet potatoes gnocchi with scampi and prawn bisque, black kingfish with avocado mousse and tomato comfit.

Elisa, grand daughter of Danio, the celebrated owner of Da Danio Trattoria, has recently re-opened this historic trattoria (dates back from 1937) which prides itself for serving typical Bolognese dishes at affordable prices.
