Knott's Berry Farm Destination Fact Sheet

Knott

What Is Knott's Berry Farm Theme Park?
What began as a roadside berry stand and Chicken Dinner Restaurant in the 1920s has evolved into one of Southern California's most popular theme park destinations, attracting millions of visitors each year. At Knott's, fun is always in season, with dozens of rides, shows, and attractions in five themed areas.  Knott's is also home to one of the only waterparks in Southern California, Knott's Soak City Water Park, Knott's Marketplace for all your dining and shopping needs, and the full-service Knott's Berry Farm Hotel.

Where Is Knott's?
Located in Buena Park, Orange County, California, ten minutes from Disneyland and 30 minutes from the John Wayne Airport, downtown Los Angeles, Long Beach Airport, and LAX.

How Did Knott's Begin?
The Knott Family arrived in Buena Park in 1920 to farm 20 acres of land. The famous berry stand and Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant followed, attracting visitors from near and far. In 1940, Walter began building Ghost Town as a diversion for the thousands of hungry guests lining up each day – and the rest is history!

What is new for 2014?

Knott's Berry Farm is proud to announce two major projects for 2014 that continue reinvestment in the park's rich history and heritage. Camp Snoopy celebrates its 30th Anniversary with the revitalization of the entire land of High Sierra fun. The classic Calico Mine Ride, Knott's first major attraction and theme park industry icon, will undergo an all-encompassing refurbishment complete with new state-of-the-art animatronic figures and enhanced scenery. Camp Snoopy's area beautification and the revitalized Calico Mine Ride are slated to open early summer of 2014.

What are the Five Themed Areas?
Camp Snoopy remains the most beloved children's wonderland anywhere. This summer, Knott's will unveil a newly refurbished six-acre kids' paradise featuring over 30 attractions for the young – and

young at heart! Attractions include the Camp Snoopy Theatre, home to a variety of shows starring Snoopy and the PEANUTS Gang, Snoopy's Red Baron airplanes, the spinning coaster Sierra Sidewinder, and many other adventures.

Old West Ghost Town, the heart and soul of the Park, is a rough 'n' ready 1880s Old West Boom Town of cowboys, gun fights, can-can dancers, stagecoaches, a steam train and panning for real gold. Ghost Town is also the home of Pony Express-The Ride and Silver Bullet, Knott's first suspended coaster. Other Ghost Town adventures include Bigfoot Rapids, a tempestuous outdoor white-water river excursion and Mystery Lodge, a multi-sensory journey into the Native American West. GhostRider®, a spectacular wooden coaster, and the classic, Timber Mountain Log Ride and Calico Mine Ride, round out this spectacular area.

Fiesta Village, the prowling grounds for Knott's Jaguar! roller coaster, is a festive salute to California's rich Spanish legacy, complete with architecture, food, eye-catching works of art, and spicy rides including La Revolución, Wave Swinger, and Dragon Swing.

The Boardwalk pays tribute to the celebrated Southern California beach lifestyle and a retro era that never was but always will be. In 2013, three exciting new attractions opened in a re-imagined section of the Boardwalk area, including Coast Rider, a family coaster, Surfside Gliders, on which riders pilot their own two-person aircraft for a scenic view of Boardwalk Bay, and the return of the classic Pacific Scrambler.  Boardwalk is also where you'll find thrill-seeker favorite, Xcelerator, which sends daredevils screaming 0-80 mph in just 2.3 seconds! Other gravity-defying thrills include roller coaster fun on Boomerang, Supreme Scream®, and Rip Tide. The 2,100-seat Charles M. Schulz Theatre rounds out the fun as it hosts spectacular Broadway style ice shows in the summer and holiday seasons.

Indian Trails celebrates the lore, legends, crafts, music and dance of Native American tribes with participatory learning adventures for all ages.

What Kinds of Entertainment Does Knott's Present?
Dozens of stages throughout the Park offer nonstop live entertainment, including big-stage seasonal productions in the 2,100-seat Charles M. Schulz Theatre; legendary Wild West Stunt Shows in the Wagon Camp; spirited saloon shows at the Calico Saloon; and Native American dances and presentations in Indian Trails. Summers at Knott's mean a host of live entertainment, including DJs spinning the favorites and rock bands belting out the classics.

Are There Any Free Things to Do?
Knott's Independence Hall is an exact, brick-by-brick replica of the original in Philadelphia. Walter Knott's personal labor of love, it is the nation's only exact replica of the Philadelphia landmark. The Hall was built by the Knott Family as a permanent, free-admission reminder of two famous events: the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the signing of the U.S. Constitution. An avid proponent of American history and values, Walter Knott constructed the building for the millions of West Coast families unable to travel to Philadelphia to tour the original.

During the Holiday season, relax and unwind in Knott's Christmas Crafts Village as it transforms Ghost Town into a shopping wonderland filled with dozens of local artists and artisans selling their unique wares, including a chainsaw sculptor and glass blower.
