Guams world-class golfing is among the Micronesian islands best-kept secrets. Visitors to Guam can enjoy a challenging round of golf on seven courses created by the sports most acclaimed U.S and Japanese course designers and golf professionals. In short, Guam is a virtual paradise for golfers of all skill levels.
The history of golf on Guam dates to the early 1950s, when the U.S. military established the first two golf courses. Now the island has seven courses open to the public. Guam also offers two outstanding military courses for authorized personnel and a number of driving ranges for public use.
Guams golf courses are among the most scenic in the Pacific. Lush tropical jungles surround some, while others offer dramatic ocean views. Each of Guam's golf courses has its own special character and appeal, allowing players to choose according to their individual taste and ability.
These include Country Club of the Pacific; Guam International Country Club; Alte Guam Golf Resort; Leo Palace Resort Country Club; Mangilao Golf Club; Talofofo Golf Resort; Windward Hills Country Club; and Target Golf, which is the island's only nine hole, par 3 course.
Central Guam is home to The Leo Palace Resort, which has four nine-hole courses designed by some of the sport's greatest golfers - Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. The resort also offers accommodations. It has more than 100 condominium units and facilities that include a swimming pool and tennis courts, for a well-rounded resort vacation on Guam.
Situated atop cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean in central Guam is the Mangilao Country Club, a course that many consider Guams most dramatically beautiful. Designed by Robin Nelson, Mangilao has been ranked among the best in the Pacific by Asia-Pacific Golf magazine.
Set in southern Guam, the 18-hole Talofofo course was a collaborative effort of golfing legends Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, Gene Sarazen, Billy Casper, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Doug Ford, Bob Toski, Gene Littler and Orville Moody: Each golfer was responsible for designing two holes.
Greens fees for a round of golf on Guam start at $80 including the cart, which is required at most courses.
