Football Fever hits Ottawa ahead of FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™ Draw Draw for FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™ to take place in Ottawa area on 6 December
Tickets already on sale for the tournament which takes place in 6 Canadian cities from 6 June to 5 July, 2015
With just days to go until the official draw in Ottawa to decide the group stages for the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™, expectations in the city are at fever pitch.
In addition to hosting the draw on 6 December at the iconic Canadian Museum of History, Canada's capital will play host to some of the tournament's Group B matches, with the first game set to take place at the city's Lansdowne Stadium on 7 June, before going on to host some of the action in the knockout stages, including one of the quarter final matches on 26 June.
Tickets for the event are already on sale, including Stadium Passports which entitle holders to attend all of the matches in a particular venue, including Ottawa's Lansdowne Stadium. Passport tickets are particularly great value as holders can save up to 25% when compared with the cost of purchasing individual tickets and they can also be shared with friends and family if you cannot attend all the matches. Holders of Passport tickets will be given priority for booking tickets to the final of the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015 on July 5, 2015 in Vancouver.
Jantine Van Kregten, Director of Communications at Ottawa Tourism, says: “June is a fantastic month to visit Ottawa and we're expecting a big influx of visitors looking to combine World Cup action with our packed summer programme of local music, food and cultural festivals.
“This time round the tournament is bigger and better than ever with the number of finalists increased from 16 to 24 since it was last hosted in Germany, in 2011. What's more, tickets for the seats are amazing value, especially the Passport options, which is just as well, as with so much exciting action on the field you'll hardly spend any time sitting down in them! The only question that remains is, 'will you be there when Canada welcomes the world?'”
Football is top-of-mind in the Canadian capital, as 2014 saw brand new local team Ottawa Fury FC, which also has a strong women's team, move into its new home at Lansdowne Stadium and join the North American Soccer League.
The other five venues for the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015 are Montreal, Moncton, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Vancouver.
