Camp Adounia is a luxury camp and can be booked as a hotel throughout the year.  The camp can be booked by groups and also retreat companies.  Adounia will be used for Morocco Retreats in the Sahara and on the Coast.  We have carefully chosen the retreat dates with the climate in mind.  The coast, mountains and Sahara enjoy very different temperatures and seasons.  Our camp has been created with the fragility of the Saharan environment in mind, conscious tourism, the local community and local artisans who recycle.  We want to be the first conscious luxury camp in the Sahara who enjoy the wonderful energy of the dunes without leaving any negative impact on the environment.

These holidays are for busy people with a sense of adventure and a need for time out to remind themselves of what life is all about, find some balance, dance around a camp fire with kindred souls, find inspiration in powerful natural environments, and be nurtured and pampered back to vitality.  Sitting under the millions of stars around a camp fire listening to ancient drumming will touch your soul.

Sahara Camp – September – May

Set on a beautiful site of majestic sand dunes, away from it all in silence.

Beach Camp – June – September

In June we take our Luxury Camp to the unspoilt Atlantic Coast where we have our own bay all to ourselves.  You can walk on the beach, swim in the sea, enjoy reading in your tent and relax under the stars at night with our Berber Musicians.

 

Camp Experience:

Camp Adounia is different to other camp experiences.  Its for tourists who want to really enjoy Morocco and understand the local culture and community.  We try very hard to work with nature using ecological products and sanitation.  The tents are light and airy bringing you wonderful luxury using hand crafted and recycled Moroccan interiors. Our standards of hygiene are high and we work with our wonderful team to educate all who visit Adounia on the environment and culture. 

 

Camp Adounia is set up with 3 treatment tents and a large yoga/meditation tent.  Our team of experts at Morocco Retreats can be booked for groups or Retreat Companies. We are experts at helping you plan a special event or group retreat.

 

-        Ecology – products in en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold water bucket wash with hammam towls and stools.  Our bespoke wooden toilets are dry toilets and are replenished twice a day.  The camp has a full solar solution  We belong to Leave No Trace and follow all their rules and policy.  Kitchen products are all ecological.  We use local products and community as much as possible.

-        Tents – These have luxury mattresses with white bed linen.  The tents are decorated with handwoven Berber rugs and tasteful Moroccan interiors.  Mineral drinking water is provided in bathrooms and bedrooms.

-        Food – Delicious fresh food is produced daily by our chef using local products.  All meals and drinks are included (excluding alcohol).  We can cater to all dietary requirements including vegan and raw.

-        Families – wonderful for families with camels and sand boards – the camp has guest insurance, emergency policy and procedure.  The tents can take a maximum of 3 beds.

-        Couples – a superb experience for a wedding or honeymoon. Our Camp Director and owner have many years experience in catering and event management.

-        Spa Team – we have a team of experts who are able to offer, massage, reflexology, nutrition (juicing detox) beauty treatments, yoga, HIIT and body work.  Join one of our retreat programmes or let us pull together your own bespoke Spa Holiday.

-        Travel – Marrakech is the nearest airport – the beach camp is 2.5 hours by taxi to the beach and costs £150 return.  The Sahara Camp you need a minimum of 5 nights and we recommend stopping in Ait Ben Haddou for the night on the way.  The Kasbah City is a wonderful experience.  The Desert Camp is near Mhamid and we take the route from Marrakech over the Atlas Mountains and down the spectacular Draa Valley via Zagora.  Helicopters can be booked from Marrakech if required.  Otherwise trasnsport is via landcruisers with experienced drivers - £500 for 5 days and can take 5 guests each one.

-        Price - £150 per person per night, £75 for children under 10 years.  Group prices and Spa Team on request.

 

About us:

Emma Joyston-Bechal a Brand Director for WPP London moved to Marrakech 8 years ago and opened Zamzam Riad & Spa in Marrakech Medina with her husband Marcus. This magical boutique hotel can be booked as part of the camp itinerary.

 

She was born in Uganda and brought up in Nigeria.  Emma has travelled extensively with business and independently.  Her Transafrica of one year gave her invaluable experience of outdoor catering, camp life and challenging environments.  Her focus has always been attention to detail, service and looking after her guests and team to provide an exceptional holiday experience, this is enhanced with excellent food.

 

Said Ait Ahmad – Camp Director, is a Berber born in the Sahara, for the past 10 years he has worked in Fine Dining in the UK.  Said has huge energy and loves people, he has high level expectations of service but his soul belongs in the Sahara under the stars with his guitar.

 

Samir – Emma's right hand man is the Camp Manager – he looks after the team and daily running and logistics of the camp and clients. A kind gentle man where nothing is too much trouble.
