Tour Company 56th Parallel is better known for its unique adventures to Russia and regions of Siberia than city breaks, but the Australian-based business has recently launched two high-end tours to Russia’s stunning European capital – Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The company’s founder, Michael Schneider, explains that: “Since launching our unique adventure tours to Siberia, we’ve had a lot of people wanting to experience Moscow and St Petersburg while in the region so we decided to create some unique and unforgettable tours for clients to experience before or after their trips to Siberia.”
56th Parallel began after Schneider took numerous groups of friends on adventure holidays to the region and made lasting connections with people in the local tourism industry. After a number of successful trips, the team this year launched a brand new 56th Parallel website (www.56thparallel.com) with the aim of sharing Siberia’s mystique with the world.
Many people still have some misconceptions about Siberia – that it’s cold, desolate and difficult to access. In reality, Siberia is opening up to the world and is easily accessible from many hubs in Asia as well as Moscow and other European cities. The hope is that as more people consider visiting Moscow they will become educated about the beauty of the rest of the world’s largest nation and travel further from the capital.
Visitors can explore the wonders of one or both of Russia’s capitals; Moscow the official capital and St. Petersburg, Russia’s cultural capital. Begin in Moscow with an experience of Russian art and architecture. Take a tour and be inspired by her most famous sites; Red Square, the Kremlin and Saint Basil’s Cathedral. Venture beyond the crowds to discover the Metro artwork in itself as well as unforgettable sites such as the historic Arbat Street, Stalin's Bunker and the Tretyakov Gallery. A few of the highlight on tour are the opportunity to be treated like a VIP on either a visit to the Vehicle Museum or an be taken on a exclusive shopping trip of Moscow's most fashionable shopping malls and boutiques.
For those looking for more cultural and historical experiences, a pleasant overnight train ride brings our guests to St. Petersburg, said to be the cultural capital of Russia. Explore the old city, which was the capital of the Russian Empire for over 200 years. St. Petersburg's history is reflected in the winding avenues, the parks and the majestic palaces. Visitors begin their tour with a calming evening cruise on the Neva River to grasp the magnificence of this beautiful city. Visitors can take a Day trip to the World Heritage listed Peterhof, a collection of majestic palaces, colourful gardens and stunning fountains and discover the lives of past royals at the State Hermitage Museum. Step out of the past and see modern art and culture at the Loft Project ETAGI or Ne Holland Island.
56th Parallel’s Moscow & St Petersburg in Style tour selects the highlights from the two cities, giving small groups a taste of the creativity, culture and landmarks of Russia’s cultural hubs.
