Jade Dragon is the only new Cantonese restaurant in Macau on the list
MACAU - Following the unveiling of the list of restaurants in the "Michelin Guide to Hong Kong & Macau 2014", City of Dreams' Chinese culinary masterpiece, Jade Dragon was awarded with its first one Michelin star. Only 11 restaurants in Macau have been awarded with Michelin stars and 3 restaurants were newly added to the list. Jade Dragon is the only new Cantonese restaurant in Macau added to the list. In conjunction with The Tasting Room that continued to sparkle with one Michelin star for the second consecutive year in 2014, City of Dreams shines with the most Michelin restaurants at Cotai in 2014.
"Shortly after The Tasting Room's Michelin achievement in its first year of operation last year, we are proud that Jade Dragon has also been awarded Michelin star in its first year of operation as well," said Mr. Kristoffer Luczak, Vice President of Food and Beverage, Melco Crown Entertainment Limited. "We believe that this is no coincidence but an accomplishment of the continued pursuit of dedication, passion and excellence of our dream team. These accolades symbolize a new chapter in Cotai dining, shaping City of Dreams as the 'must-go' place for the finest Chinese and Western cuisine."
Jade Dragon showcases exquisite Cantonese specialties and innovative modern presentations by Chef Tam Kwok Fung and his team. Jade Dragon delights gourmet with delectable Chinese delicacies and superlative personalized services that set the benchmark for fine dining in Macau.
"We source the best ingredients from all around the world to create dishes using traditional methods and technique of the Chinese cuisine. The taste is uniquely traditional and Chinese, yet, it is elevated to another level in regards to sophistication." said Chef Tam Kwok Fung, Executive Chinese Chef at City of Dreams.
With over 30 years of experience in Cantonese fine dining spanning across China, Hong Kong and Thailand, Chef Tam routinely prepared a variety of traditional and contemporary Cantonese dishes for world leaders, the royal families of Thailand, Japan and Nepal, and a host of politicians and presidents. Prior to Jade Dragon's two Michelin stars, Chef Tam previously launched internationally acclaimed Chinese restaurant Ying at Altira Macau, attaining a one-Michelin star rating in the "Michelin Guide Hong Kong & Macau 2009".
The "Michelin Guide Hong Kong & Macau 2014" awarded 73 establishments in Hong Kong and Macau with one or more Michelin stars. Michelin has defined five criteria for awarding stars: quality of products, the mastering of flavors, mastering of cooking, personality of the cuisine, value for the money and consistency of what the restaurant offers to its customers both throughout the menu and the year.
On the same day, Jade Dragon and The Tasting Room ranked 6th and 7th respectively in the Top 20 Best Restaurants list in the 2014 edition of Hong Kong Tatler Best Restaurants guide. There are five excellent additions to the list and Jade Dragon ranked highest among the new additions.
