Solís Hotels & Resorts will open two new properties - Solís Sochi Hotel and Solís Sochi Suites - offering supreme comfort and all the latest technology in the Russian resort of Krasnaya Polyana early next year, ahead of the XXII Olympic Winter Games, which take place in February 2014. Both hotels are located at an elevation of 960 metres above sea level, at the heart of Krasnaya Polyana, which is surrounded by the magnificent Caucasus Mountains offering a visually stunning and serene environment for year-round holidays with an emphasis on outdoor activities.
The Solís Sochi Hotel, the only property in Krasnaya Polyana to have "ski in, ski out" access, is just a 5-minute walk from the centre of the resort and enjoys panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. The property has been built into the mountainside with an imposing glass and stone façade, belying the blend of relaxed modern luxury and state-of-the-art technologies inside.
Solís Sochi Hotel consists of 120 elegant rooms including 13 suites, the highlight of which is the two-storey Presidential Suite measuring 487 square metres, with three bedrooms, private elevator access, butler pantry, large terrace with panoramic views and private access to the ski slopes, making it one of the largest in Russia.
Other facilities at the hotel include three food and beverage outlets, a spa and extensive function space. The Echo Ski Café offers an après-ski dining experience adjacent to the hotel's ski locker room and ski concierge services, giving guests quick and easy access to the slopes. Later in the day, the Café's "ski in, keep your boots on, ski out" policy means that guests can pop back for lunch and enjoy an après-ski environment at the end of the afternoon, before heading to the spa for a sauna and massage to ease tired muscles. For an elegant dining experience, The Grill serves steaks, fine European cuisine and regional specialties, with a private dining room that has its own wine room, while the Lobby Lounge is ideal for a quiet digestif before sleep beckons.
Additionally, the Solís Sochi Hotel includes a panoramic terrace off The Grill and a second rooftop terrace for special events, which has unobstructed views over the Caucasus Mountains and can be used year-round on account of a heated floor.
Solís Sochi Suites is a more intimate hotel combining the ultimate in comfort and luxury, making it perfect for romantic getaways. The setting is ideal for a mountain retreat, with most rooms having expansive views of the Caucasus Mountains and Valley below. Touch screen panels in the 52 rooms allow guests to adjust the lights and air-conditioning, without leaving their bed. Each guest room also has a refreshment centre consisting of soft drinks, juices and waters, which are complimentary to in-house guests.
Other facilities at the hotel include the food and beverage outlets Le Chalet and Lobby Lounge, and four boardrooms. Le Chalet, designed to resemble a traditional alpine venue, offers typical dishes including cheese fondue, while the Lobby Lounge is perfect for casual meals and drinks.
The bijou spa, which is open to hotel guests only, is a haven of peace, tranquillity and discretion where they can relax in the swimming pool or the various saunas/steam rooms and enjoy fabulous spa treatments, either alone or in the couple's treatment room.
One of the highlights of Solís Sochi Suites is the Krasnaya Polyana Suite measuring 583 square metres, with private elevator access, that consists of two storeys and has seven rooms, including three bedrooms offering panoramic mountain views, two private terraces with sun beds and an infinity pool, a living room with fireplace, a spa area including a sauna, Jacuzzi and 25 square metre gym facility.
Rates at both hotels start from Roubles 8,800 (approx £170) for two people sharing a double room, including breakfast but excluding 18% VAT, rising to Roubles 750,000 (approx £14,600) for the Presidential Suite at Solís Sochi Hotel and the Krasnaya Polyana Suite at Solís Sochi Suites.
The two Solís properties are opening at an exciting time in the development of Sochi. The XXII Olympic Winter Games will be followed by the hosting of an F1 Grand Prix event in the second half of 2014 and, four years later, the resort will be one of the host cities for the FIFA World Cup competition. These high-level sporting events will place Sochi firmly on the world map and, combined with the resort's outstanding natural beauty, will make it a "must-go" destination for all those wishing to lead the way in the travel arena.
Both hotels are easily accessible via Sochi International Airport, which is a two-hour flight from Moscow and a three-hour flight from major European cities. A new high speed train will connect the resort and the airport in just 30 minutes; the driving time is approximately 45 minutes.

The Solís Hotels & Resorts brand was developed by legendary hotelier Horst Schulze and his team of hospitality experts. Solís Hotels & Resorts is a collection of resorts, hotels and residences offering a convergence of unparalleled designs, settings and experiences. Luxury "the Solís way" goes way beyond superbly appointed accommodation to reach Schulze's benchmark of elevated guest service.
The city of Sochi, situated in Southern Russia, is the longest city in Europe stretching 145 kilometres along the shores of the Black Sea. Sochi coastal area is a popular seaside resort, while the less well-known Sochi mountain cluster is located an hour's drive from the Black Sea. In recent years, US$12 billion has been invested in the development of Sochi mountain area and that of the surrounding infrastructure in preparation for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. The Sochi mountain cluster is located at Krasnaya Polyana and is divided in half: the lower part lies at 560 metres and the upper part at 960 metres (the upper part is where the Solís-managed hotels are located).
Krasnaya Polyana lies at the foot of the Caucasus Mountains; the lift-served summit rises to 2,320 metres, giving a vertical drop of 1,760 metres. From the 2013/14 winter season, the resort will offer 30km of world-class ski slopes (previously, there were only 10km), with an extensive range of pistes varying in difficulty from green to black; 12 chair and gondola lifts, totalling 10km in length, will carry skiers to the slopes. The resort has a long ski season, with historically measured good snow from November to mid-May, but artificial snow systems have been installed should they be needed. A new lighting system also allows for night skiing.
In summer, the Caucasuses offer up alpine-style meadows, the primordial forests of the Sochi National Park, cool mountain rivers and waterfalls for hiking, biking and adventure tourism, as well as multiple sightseeing opportunities thanks to historic castles etc. In addition, there is the chance for day visits to the coastal area on the Black Sea, which is only 40 miles away.
Krasnaya Polyana is known as one of the most beautiful places in Russia and the most sophisticated ski resort in the country.
Gorky Gorod, the district of Krasnaya Polyana in which the hotels are located, will host the Media Village during the 2014 Olympic Winter Games, with the skiing events taking place at Rosa Khutor, which is less than 10 minutes from Gorky Gorod. Gorky Gorod's ski areas will remain open throughout the Olympics, so that non-competing guests will have pistes to ski.
The XXII Olympic Winter Games take place in Sochi from 7 to 23 February 2014; the skating events will take place in the coastal cluster of Sochi, while the skiing events will take place in Sochi's mountain cluster. It is the first time that Russia will host the Olympic Winter Games.
