Roll out the picnic rug for a picture-perfect afternoon in the sun at Lennox Gardens. Set on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin, Lennox Gardens offers beautiful views of Black Mountain, the Brindabella Ranges and the city centre. Kids love the expanse of lush green grass and there's plenty of space to picnic, have a barbeque or just relax under the shade of towering trees. Lennox Gardens is home to two landscaped gifts from Japan and China; each celebrating the sister city links between Canberra, Beijing and Japan's ancient capital, Nara. “My favourite Instagram location in Canberra is definitely Lennox Gardens,” Michelle told VisitCanberra. “Every season here brings new photography opportunities, from the beautiful autumn leaves to the cherry blossoms in spring… An afternoon at Lennox Gardens laying in the sun with a picnic is pure perfection any time of the year and makes for a lovely photo opportunity.”

Float above the city and capture breathtaking views from a hot air balloon. Finish with a champagne celebration at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra. There's no better way to fully appreciate Canberra's charm than from the air with the multi-award winning Balloon Aloft, Canberra's original balloon ride operator.

The masterful aqua centrepiece of Canberra, the large and lovely Lake Burley Griffin is an ideal water playground, whether you're into rowing, sailing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding or fishing. Cyclists and walkers are well catered for along the 40km shoreline, and nothing beats a picnic in its numerous parks and gardens. The lake is always buzzing with activity and the perfect spot to take a snap, particularly at sunrise and sunset.

Immerse yourself in one million blooms and snap a picture worth framing at Floriade (17 September-16 October). After a two-year hiatus, Australia's Biggest Celebration of Spring is returning to Canberra. Commonwealth Park will come to life in September with beauty, colour and vibrancy as over one million blooms create a stunning display during the month-long festival. From horticultural workshops to tasting the region's best seasonal food and wine; there's something for everyone at Floriade.

Enjoy nature and walk through beautiful wilderness tracks at Gibraltar Falls. A picnic shelter, tables, gas barbecue and small amenities block are available at the Gibraltar Falls car park. Take the short walking track to the lookout to enjoy views over the falls and the valley beneath.

Hit the high seas (or rather, lake) on an unforgettable GoBoat experience. Take time out from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the fresh air on your very own Scandinavian electric picnic boat on Lake Burley Griffin. Rent a GoBoat for a special occasion, a quiet picnic, or an outing with a group of friends and don't forget to pack the camera with plenty of Instagram-worthy opportunities as you glide across the water. If you can't see 'the shot' right away, Michelle suggests you should change your perspective. “Frame the object in flowers or leaves, add in a prop or look for contrasting colours. Just remember practice makes perfect,” she said. “Any location can be 'Instagrammable', it's all about colours, framing and perspective.”

Nestle in for an aesthetic glamping experience with Naked Cubby Co. Named after important figures to the vineyard it's set amongst, Mount Majura Vineyard,  the little bell tents and tiny house are designed to be cubbies; small and secluded places to hideaway in the outdoors. After snapping the beautiful surrounds, take a small stroll to the vineyard's cellar door where you can put your food photography to the test.

Take a picnic rug or enjoy a walk at the National Aboretum Canberra. Snap a stunning photo at sunset after exploring some of Canberra's best panoramic views, over 94 forests, stunning architecture and themed, landscaped gardens. Explore the Village Centre and the mono-culture forests as you learn about conservation and the environment.

Delight in the art and world-class exhibitions on show at the National Gallery Australia, on the shores of Canberra's Lake Burley Griffin. Art lovers will enjoy meandering through the galleries and admiring the collection, including the famous 'Blue Poles' by Jackson Pollock and the Ned Kelly series by Sidney Nolan. The new Australian and International art galleries provide plenty of things to see, following a large-scale rehang of almost every piece. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art collection comprises over 7500 works and is the largest globally.

Soak up the view as you take in the serenity atop Shephard's Lookout. You might be inclined to put the camera away to enjoy one of Canberra's best bush vistas, perched over the mighty Murrumbidgee River. If you're looking to take a cracking photo Michelle suggests colour and composition are key. “Learn as much as you can about photography, colour charts and the rule of three,” she said. “Anywhere can make a beautiful Instagram photo when you look at it from the right perspective.
