With Black Friday only days away, Skyscanner the global travel marketplace has delved into its extensive flight data to uncover insights into Black Friday flight deals. The findings (detailed in infographic below) highlight the cheapest time to book flights on Black Friday (based on 2017 data) was during the post lunch slump at 2pm, and the destination which saw the biggest savings was Lisbon, saving 5% off the average flight price, however further-flung Hong Kong also saw average savings of 4%¹.

Lisa Tyndall, Senior Growth Manager at Skyscanner comments: “Whether travellers are planning on flying home for Christmas or seeking their next bucket list adventure, Black Friday is the perfect time grab a bargain flight and hotel deal. Looking at our flight data from last year's Black Friday, we saw that 2pm was the cheapest time of the day to bag a bargain – a perfect antidote to the post-lunch slump. Whilst we can't predict deals for this Black Friday, there are a few hacks travellers should bear in mind to find the best bargains, such as being flexible on their date for travel, as well as being open to flying in and out of different airports. To help travellers get the best deals this Black Friday we've created a dedicated one-stop flight deals page detailing the best flights on offer. We will be updating the page as soon as the airlines announce their deals, and as this can happen at any time, it is worth checking back throughout the day.”
For those in need of a cheap yet culturally rich city break, Eindhoven is Skyscanner's top pick for the cheapest destination, based on last year's Black Friday intel. And who were the biggest bargain hunters? Mancunians (or anyone travelling from Manchester airport really!) so the Skyscanner data says¹.
