Bespoke Cultural and Natural Heritage Tours to Argentina With Battered Suitcase

Battered Suitcase

New tour operator Battered Suitcase has launched a choice of two 14-day bespoke holidays exploring the cultural and natural heritage of Argentina, South America. With each tour tailored to suit the individual, travellers are not tied to set tour itineraries and can 'do it their way'.

Both tours start and end in Buenos Aires and include guided tours of the capital taking in historic May Square and a visit to Eva 'Evita' Peron's final resting place; there's also free time to explore the city individually.

Cultural Heritage Tour

The Cultural Heritage Tour has been designed for travellers who wish to discover more about the country's native and Jesuit legacy. It includes some traditional touches such as a visit to San Antonio de Areco, one of the oldest towns in Argentina and a ranch in the Pampas.  Another highlight is the day at Iguazu known for its dramatic waterfalls and National Park, which straddle Argentina and Brazil and are declared as one of the New7Wonders of Nature.

This is followed by a visit to the notable Jesuit ruins of San Ignacio, now a World Heritage Site. From here the tour moves to the northern area or Argentina including a circuit of the Quebrada de Humahuaca ending in Cordoba, which was very important to the Spanish since it was on the old route to the region of Alto Perú (Upper Peru, now in Bolivia) conquered back in the 16th century.

Natural Heritage Tour

Iguazu with its panoramic falls and San Antonio de Areco are also included in the Natural Heritage Tour but that's where most of the similarities end. Travellers are taken on a visit to the World Heritage Site city of Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay reached by boat in around an hour from Buenos Aires. Next it's a flight to Puerto Madryn on the coast where a couple of days are spent observing the huge variety of marine fauna and flora dependent on the season; this might include various sea birds, small dolphin and whale watching as well as a visit to the penguin reserve. A further flight goes to El Calafate with its stunning glaciers and an exciting river trip on board a catamaran amongst the icebergs.

Return flights from London Heathrow, internal flights and transfers, four star boutique hotel accommodation on a B&B basis, entry into national parks and an English speaking guide are included, plus suggestions for where to dine. Prices for the Natural Heritage Tour are from £4,125 per person and for the Cultural Tour from £4,287 based two sharing a room (departures from other airports quoted on request).
