Whitsundays Gem Joins Breakfree Resorts

BreakFree Hotels, Resorts, Apartments

Mantra Group has added to its BreakFree brand portfolio with the award winning Long Island Resort in the Whitsundays set to join the network next month.

To be known as BreakFree Long Island Resort, the 140 room property caters to families and couples and provides a superb location for weddings.  The resort will be the 27th property in the BreakFree network across Australia and New Zealand.  Its acquisition follows the recent announcement of the brand's first hotel in Asia - BreakFree Sing Ken Ken in Legian, Bali.

Mantra Group CEO, Bob East said BreakFree Long Island Resort embodies the brand's offerings:

"BreakFree prides itself on being a quality, cost-effective accommodation option for travellers in exceptional locations and Long Island is an excellent representation of this that I'm sure will be well received by our guests."

Resort owners, Ocean Hotels & Tourism, are keen to benefit from the well known brand and distribution channels available:

"We are excited to be entering in to this agreement with Mantra Group under their BreakFree brand and believe it offers an excellent opportunity to increase our exposure in the competitive Australian accommodation market," said Alex Blake, Group Sales and Marketing Manager.

Long Island is the Whitsundays' 'natural' island, allowing guests to get up close to wildlife such as wallabies and native birds in their natural surroundings.  The majority of the resort's accommodation offerings are Beachfront rooms which, as the name suggests, open right on to the beach; while Garden Rooms overlook tropical gardens.

Guests can enjoy a myriad of water sports, explore the colourful coral and fish on a snorkelling tour of the fringing reef only 150 metres offshore, or take a hike through the 20 kilometres of bush walking paths in the surrounding National Park.  Families will enjoy the on-site Kids Club, Virtual Reality room, mini golf, and tennis court facilities.

Alfresco dining is on offer at Palms Restaurant or Café Paradiso and Pool Bar for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as cocktails overlooking Happy Bay, which overlooks one of the only sunset facing beaches in the Whitsunday Islands.

Winner of the 2010 Queensland Tourism award for Best Standard Accommodation, BreakFree Long Island Resort can be accessed via Great Barrier Reef airport on Hamilton Island or Proserpine Airport with Cruise Whitsundays transfers to Long Island.  Cruise Whitsundays also operates transfers from Shute Harbour and Abel Point on the mainland as well as Whitehaven Beach and Great Barrier Reef day cruises.

BreakFree Long Island Resort is the first island location for the BreakFree brand and joins a growing network of resorts located on the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Fraser Coast as well as New Zealand's most popular tourist town, Queenstown.
