Following recent events in the Sinai Peninsula, day tour operator Urban Adventures has temporarily suspended its tours to St Catherine's Monastery and Mt. Sinai, until March 1, 2014.

All other Urban Adventure day tours from the Red Sea resorts of Dahab and Sharm el-Sheikh and in Cairo continue to run as scheduled, accompanied by local tour guides who have up-to-the-minute knowledge of the situation on the ground.  Passenger safety remains the tour operator's primary concern.

Urban Adventures that continue to operate in the Red Sea area include the new Egyptian Farming 101 tour, which takes travellers away from the resorts and into the desert, to help out on a rural farming project and learn how local people have lived off the land for centuries.
