Universal City, California – Universal Studios HollywoodSM offers guests a rare opportunity to take home a piece of Hollywood history with the introduction of its new retail store, “Production Central,” featuring a selection of one-of-a-kindauthentic movie memorabilia and props from a variety of acclaimed Hollywood films.
A sampling of items available include the Flash Gordon book featured in “Seabiscuit,” the door buzzer and evacuation map from the “Bourne Identity,” the key to the Book of the Dead from “The Mummy,” a directors chair back from “Austin Powers Goldmember” and Fred and Barney’s Bedrock time card from “The Flintstone Movie.” Other items include a production crew bathrobe from “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and a limited edition of numbered mini photograph cells of Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley.
A Certificate of Authenticity accompanies each item, which range in price from $50 to $2,000. New items will arrive to “Production Central” regularly to replace the one-of-a-kind items that are sold.
Beyond affording guests a chance to purchase memorable Hollywood collectables, Universal Studios Hollywood continues to keep the magic of Hollywood within arms reach of its guests. An inspiring attraction, “The Universal Experience,” showcases an extraordinary collection of never-before-seen props, costumes, wardrobe, artifacts and special effects items featured in an array of Universal Pictures’ award-winning movies and NBC television programs. Standing tall at the center of the attraction is the “Best Picture” Oscar statuette from “The Sting,” awarded to Universal Pictures in 1973.
In its quest to quell the Hollywood mystique, Universal Studios Hollywood continues to put visitors on the front line of movie making magic with its behind-the-scenes “Studio Tour,” which now features comedian Jimmy Fallon as its new video host. The star of “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” will introduce a series of entertaining clips that will be seen on the HD monitors located in each Tram car to augment the “live” narration provided by Universal Studios Hollywood’s tour guides.
