With the addition of its first property on the island of Ibiza this summer, Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ (SLH) now offers authentic Balearic stays on the three largest islands of the Spanish archipelago.
Hacienda Na Xamena Hotel joins Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ following a full refurbishment and secures the SLH Balearic trio with Torralbenc on Menorca and two hotels on Mallorca – Cap Rocat, and Gran Hotel Son Net.
Paul Kerr, CEO Small Luxury Hotels of the World™, says “Through searches via slh.com, we are now seeing increasing demand for small yet luxurious hotels across all of the Balearic Islands. With each of the three main islands – Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza – each offering their own distinctive character and varying scenery, SLH is delighted to offer guests the chance to experience the culture and vibrancy unique to each isle.”
IBIZA
Although globally renowned as a mecca for party-goers and music-lovers, Ibiza locals head to the north of the island, where dramatic cliffs and tiny coves carve out remarkably peaceful beaches with sparkling blue waters. Hacienda Na Xamena Hotel, the most recent property to join the SLH portfolio in the Balearics, is nestled within a nature reserve on the top of the cliffs that give the 'White Isle' its name. The terrace is a well-kept secret among those in-the-know as one of the best places to watch the famous Ibicenco sunset, and La Posidonia spa, named after the protected seaweed that grows around Ibiza, offers treatments and rituals with natural Ibicenco products.
MALLORCA
The largest of the islands offers a little of everything, from a landscape of soaring peaks in the Tramuntana mountains, wildlife in the S'Albufera Natural Park, stretches of white sand beaches, and lively culture in the capital. There are two Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ hotels on the island: Gran Hotel Son Net lies at the foot of the emblematic Galatzó mountain and is a 17th century finca that has been carefully restored to retain the feel of an authentic Mallorcan villa. Cap Rocat is housed in a 19th century fortress, still with its drawbridge, bunkers and shooting buttresses, allowing guests to experience sleeping in former military quarters, but with all the comfort and services of a luxury hotel.
MENORCA
Tranquil Menorca is characterised by isolated beaches, archaeological sites, rolling farmland and captivating vineyards. Inspired by Menorca's rich heritage and prehistoric ruins, Torralbenc, the only SLH hotel in Menorca, is a collection of traditional white-washed Menorcan farmhouses set deep in the countryside but close to the island's sandy beaches. To really appreciate the Menorcan way of life, guests can take part in cookery classes and then recreate classic Menorcan cuisine at home, accompanied by local wine bought from Torralbenc's surrounding vineyards.
