Singita Launches True Mobile Tented Safari Experience

Classic Portfolio

Singita Game Reserves is proud to announce the launch of Singita Explore, an exciting and exclusive mobile safari experience which will take guests on a wonderful journey to some of Africa’s most remote and romantic wilderness sites. Custom designed to meet discerning travellers demand for privacy, authenticity and closeness to nature, Singita Explore will launch on 1st June in the 340,000 acre Singita Grumeti Reserves, a private concession situated along the Western corridor of Tanzania’s legendary Serengeti.

Singita Explore puts the adventure back into ‘going on safari’, offering a journey of exploration on an exclusive-use basis for a minimum of 2 and maximum of 12 guests. Unlike other camps, which are seasonal and semi-permanent, Singita Explore is truly mobile. Guests and guides can agree their route in accordance to nature, rainfall patterns, vegetation and game movements that include the annual wildebeest migration - one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth. They will have the expanse of Singita Grumeti Reserves at their fingertips – and no other guests to take into account! The camp will be disassembled on demand and moved to different locations in the concession, with individually tailored itineraries according to guests’ personal interests and preferred safari activities. It will also be fully staffed at all times with a private guide and game viewing vehicle, chef and camp host.

Everything about the mobile camp has been designed for minimal energy consumption and environmental impact. Guests will return from game drives to en-suite hideaways where canvas walls frame contemporary details infused with the durable textures of Africa.  Cécile & Boyd, South Africa’s renowned interior designers and Singita Game Reserve’s longstanding interior design partners, have created a theme that is modern, robust and stylish, with wholesome furnishings that are real, utilitarian and comfortable - in steel, leather, timber, rubber and natural fabrics. Singita Explore removes the clutter of everyday life with a safari that is luxurious yet uncomplicated.

Singita’s innovative signature style and dedication to conservation embodies the design and purpose of Singita Explore. Luke Bailes, CEO of Singita Game Reserves says: ‘With Singita Explore we see the return of raw authenticity to days spent in the bush and nights under canvas in the wilderness. Luxury is still there, but we’re doing it differently - comfortable and detailed, with the excess taken out, but retaining a very beautiful safari adventure experience. Singita Explore is back to basics, pure distilled Africa without modern-day distractions to guarantee closeness to wildlife and untouched landscapes.’

Singita Explore will also offer equestrian mobile tented safaris, providing an opportunity for horse lovers to spend their days riding on the open plains of the Serengeti. Equestrian group departures have been set for August, September and October 2011, to accommodate up to eight riders.
