As millions of British families scour the net to plan and book their perfect family beach holiday for 2018, finding the best deal to the ideal holiday destination with the perfect temperature during school holidays is often the most important factor for sun-starved Brits.

To help families find their perfect holiday during school holidays, On the Beach, the UK's leading beach holiday specialist, has delved into its booking data to reveal which destinations are the cheapest to enjoy a holiday during the school breaks, and the destinations which offer the best value when it comes to the perfect holiday temperature.

The research conducted by On the Beach reveals that the Easter school holidays is the cheapest time for families to travel, with the average cost of a family holiday 7% cheaper than those during May half term, which is the second cheapest school holiday for families to travel.

On the Beach found that October half term, a popular time of year for travelling families also offers great value to those looking to jet off during the school holidays.

Best value destination by temperature

For families looking to take the kids abroad over the Easter period but are looking for guaranteed sun, the research conducted by On the Beach revealed the cheapest destinations to visit, which enjoy temperatures of 20 degrees and above.

The research found the Canary Island of Lanzarote, which enjoys an average temperature of around 20 degrees at Easter, is the cheapest option, followed the ever-popular family holiday destination of Florida, which averages around 22 degrees.  

The research revealed the Egyptian resort of Hurghada, which is slightly warmer with an average of 24 degrees, as the third cheapest destination for families looking for guaranteed sun during the Easter holiday period.

However, many families want to take their holiday over the summer school holiday, a time which guarantees the very best weather and offers a larger choice of destinations. For families looking to travel over summer, the research found Spain is the very best option, taking all three spots in the list of the cheapest destinations to enjoy a sun-kissed summer.

According to the research, the Costa Brava region, which sees average temperatures hit the mid-twenties is the cheapest option, followed by the Spanish hot spot of Costa Calida, which enjoys an average temperature of 27 degrees during the summer months.

The Costa de la Luz, situated on Spain's most south westerly tip, is the third cheapest option for guaranteed sun, with the region experiencing an average temperature of 24 degrees.
